After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision.

As before I just have the rolling shell.

Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box.

He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine.

Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine.

The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!!

The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter and the TwinZ rear bumper.

I already obtained a good used 99 spec from Mikey Bean and I have a new Twinz rear from Mark Derbys group buy.

I will get a new sheet of ally and make another front splitter. good job I kept the template!!

There are numerous detail improvements on the schedule too. More details to follow!

Probably the most important/significant is a new custom loom for the car. Over the development period of the car numerous items have been added by several people. The result now is a total mess of wiring everywhere with no one personknowing exavtly what is joined to what!!!

This winter I am lucky that our new race day team member Paul is helping at my place with all the work.

Im simply getting too old for some of the harder physical jobs needed.

In addition the newly formed Bodymech team of "Boldy" and "Manta V8" are doing the panel fitting and giving the whole shell a fresh coat of paint inside and out.

so Im sure everyone will be adding to the thread as they get their quota of jobs done.

So a few pics meantime and can you spot the brake problem???

I have also highlighted some fittings that need "improving"

Check out the rats nest of wiring too!!

And I did!!!

The guys are making excellent progress The overall result is really good.

Darren had a lot of trouble getting the interior painted due to the heavy contamination the track cars get from oil grease and various sprays which get used on them. So some "fish eye " was almost inevitable.

The difficult areas have been re painted and once I fit the bits n pieces back inside then it wont be noticable.

The outside is resplendent in "Artic White" and we will need sunglasses to work on it when the sun shines.:punk:

Of course its not just white all over.... there are some "other colours " to be added....................laterz!!!!!

The best bit is still to come........the new "Custom" arches are almost ready...

Meantime enjoy the pics......................

Nice front splitter Pete and will it act as undertry also?

Yes it will. We may add a further extension to it. ATM it goes back to the Rad support panel .

We will be making up some undertray at the back too to maximise the air extraction of the Twinz diffuser and stop air getting trapped in the back of the bumper..

i know to most people it seems like a lot of dicking around for little gain but it all adds up.

Power. Weight. Areodynamics and Chassis dynamics(suspension) are all important.

Just imagine (say) Bob and James in a head to head shoot out.

Start with two equal cars. If you then do one tiny mod to one car only to gain 2/3 mph on a straight then that becomes the winning car.

We are nowhere near the limit with Bob's car yet.

a classic example being the Stillen anti roll bars I have just fitted to my car. Bob's car has them too and since I fitted them when I built the car ist time round they have never been adjusted. Spring/early summer testing should give us an opportunity to fine tune them to Bob's liking. and similarly with ride heigt, suspension stiffness brake bias etc etc

A few more for you

We,ve done the splitter section of the rear bumper first in a black base with a 2k satin laquer so it,s far more durable , that was masked off and the rest done white .

And the front bumper with CarMad vents fitted

bobgenie 091.jpg

Just need to fit it all back together , bit of a nib and polish and she,s all done .

We,ll stick some pics up when she,s all together

Very nice! :) Hopefully coming over to see you in the new year to get the front end of the zed sprayed up. House is priority at the mo but love your work lads :D
