Right I've pretty much finished the refurb on the shocks, but I noticed that it's stamped on them

"Do not heat or dismantle, Nitrogen filled"

So my question is this... Should I wait to put them on till after the respray, as the car will be getting baked a few times.

The oven goes to about 80 for an hour but this can be adjusted.. Temp and time.

Anybody had their car sprayed and baked while these were fitted??

Hrm, iirc nitrogen is an inert gas, ie non flammable etc. So realistically no different to any other pressurised gas filled strut. In thoery I can't see them being any different to any other suspension strut. If in doubt though best to just fire kyb a quick mail?

As said above inhert gas it ant going to do nought.and just for some useless info they use nitrogen in you crisp packets and many other food products.

not worried about it exploding but rather expanding and busting the shocks...

have sent a message to KYB so hopefully will get an answer soon. wanted to fit them next week while the wheels are off getting refurbed.

I'd say it's more about the seals either melting or going hard, leading the nitogen to leak out. Doubt whether anyone has ever taken their shocks off just to go into a paint oven though.

inert or not, any presurised gas in a sealed enclosure will expand when temp is increased if hot enough, it will eventually rupture the shock casing. N2 is pretty thermally stable which is one of the reasons it's used in aircraft tyres.

at 80 deg however, i really doubt you have cause for concern. but best to check
