Walking out of my local subway back to the car and I watched some dick in a silver Laguna reverse straight into the zed. I watched it shunt backwards. The guy looked like he was guna drive off, but he clocked me coming so he parked up and got out. there didn't look like there was any damage, (as you'll remember I've got a damaged front end anyway so the odd scrape or scratch I wasn't guna be bothered about.) although there was a little bit on his,

He said it was already there from another accident earlier, and everything seemed solid on both our cars. He really didn't want to give me his insurance details in case ' I try and get a new bumper out of him' So I settled for a name and number (could be anyone) and a photo of his reg.

After I've got home I've whipped off the center panel to check properly for damage, and everything looks ok, couldn't see anything bent, but on the other hand I don't remember it ever sitting this high, but seen as though I haven't had the bumper on that long, it wasn't a perfect fit to start with and I've barely looked at it closely since fitting it I can't be sure So what do you guys think

Dude, you've got no luck with bumpers! :(

I'd have pushed him for his insurance details and, if he kept refusing, just called the cops there and then...

He said if I want we could call the cops and they'd come and sort it there and then, but I figured that was a bit overkill. As he said there didn't look like there was any real damage, and I figured the coppers wouldn't know either and they'd just tell me to go and get it assessed from a body shop. He was going on saying how he's got 5 years no claims and 3 kids and he won't be able to ferry them about if he loses his no claims. Although he apologised he just seemed to figure there was no damage so he could just **** off.

Your right though dude, I don't have any luck...

That dent on the Laguna obviously another prang he's had! I do find people just don't 'see' Z32s. They're so low, no one is looking down there.

Don`t let sob story's influence you..he was at fault and should have been more careful. It`s what insurance is for !

go get it checked ... regardless if u said ok no damage .. it still needs reporting

u have his reg and details just go to the po po get a crime number

and speak to your insurance

After all thats what its for .. and it was his fault

The police would let the insurance sort it anyway but would take a quick statement and possibly breath test people

Yeah I think your right guys. I'll have a proper luck round the car tomorrow, take off the indicators and check the screw supports on the wings. see if I can see any damage. but at the same time I can hardly expect him or his insurance to pay for a new bumper or to even spray it, It's a scrap yard job that cost me £40.

Hey Bud

With the Marvellous attitude you have to things I really hope that one day I meet up with you and it would be a pleasure to buy you a pint

Really good to see someone with "Its Nice to be nice" way to life

Hope when you have a look in the morning all is well with your car

I have to admit I'd be gutted if I had done that to your car and you went through the insurance as Im building my no claims. I would however have paid the costs of getting it looked at and a replacement bumper. Best of both worlds then, after all it's not like its a write off. Hopefully this is the last bit of bad luck you have with bumpers :) great attitude!

You'd be mad to report it to your insurance if you don't intend to put any sort of claim in - they'll put your premium up next renewal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the little damage that's there, I wouldn't bother. And hopefully the other guy didn't ring his company either

Sorry to hear that Stevie - and Vijay is right; don't report it to your insurers unless you have to....

....And whilst it was the other fella's fault, he does not have to provide his insurance details at the time; you need only exchange names, addresses and registration numbers. If you decide to claim, you either send him the bill for the damage or you get your own insurers to - it's up to him whether he pays it or passes it to his own insurers later. Although if you get your insurers on the case, they will trace his insurers from the MID database:wink:

I hope you get your car sorted mate....

Yeah I've been in a similar situation myself when I was about 19, I went into the back of somebody, and to cut a long story short, I ended up giving them a couple of hundred to sort out a new bumper and getting it sprayed, and the insurers were never involved. So I can sympathise..

Thanks Richard, although there didn't look like there's much wrong I didn't want to let him leave with out some details from him because I did that once before too.

however you will all be happy to know that there doesn't appear to be any damage to the fixing points on the bumper/wings, I've had the indicators off and swapped them for my old ones so that I can tint the clear ones. And everything looks cool, non of the studs are bent and it all seems pretty solid behind the arch liner. So it seems I've had a lucky escape.

So without so much as a minor setback Lil Stevie's on-going bumper quest continues.....
