Guys and Galls,

Looking for opinions on aftermarket alloys ... which ones have you seen on Zeds that look the bizzo? Links to pictures appreciated.

I'm just not happy with 16 inches (now, I know what you're thinking!!), but it's all about circumference:D As we all know, deep-down!

Looking for some 18s, not sure what to go for. So far, have though about ATS Planets (although I can't find a distributor) and OZ Superleggera (although I'm not wholly convinced) - anyone got 'em?

So, opinions sought:confused:

CheerZ,

John.

If you get 18's try get some larger brakes. Small brakes under big wheels look stupid.

THe z center has some good pics in the wheel section. I like ythe anteras and they arnt a bad price.

Paul

john - i can usually get a good deal on wheels & tyres, OZ wheels are nice & can deffo get discount on these - let me know or chat to you about it next week :)

Nice one Paul,

Thanks for that .... will discuss next Sunday:)

CheerZ,

John.

Don't forget that the OEM alloys are aerodynamic and handed in order to get the right airflow over the discs / calipers to cool them so they work properly.

Check your aftermarket alloys are at least as efficient or your brakes might get worse.

mine came with these on, 18" 1000+ spiders and everyone says omg those wheels are awseome, and i have to agree i think there great, pic

Cheers BM,

I can imagine from the picture they look pretty special on a Z, they're a tasty set of wheels ... good buy, getting them with the car :D

Mine came complete with a set of stock alloys that look like the previous owner had cleaned them with a chain-saw:mad:

John.

I spent ages deciding on a set of alloys. But IMO, you can't beat a classic 5-spoke design. So I got Kahn RS-R's. Some fuzzy pics... http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/51 . And a set of AP 6-pot / 343's to fill in the gaps :D

I also considered Anterra 143's and Radius R1's. But RS-R's look that bit bigger than other 18's. And I'm not gonna be buying new alloys in a years time cos they've gone out of fashion.

It's all down to personal preference of course.

I have put a set of Antera 321M's, check out the z center for a good list of wheels as it's hard to find ones that fit.

Anteras

message for 51x........

just got some 18 Khan's same as yours on my car. With your bigger brakes, have you enough stud poking through for the wheel nuts?

I also have a set of chunky discs on the front with a bell on them, consequently only get about 4 turns on the wheel nut!

Bit sketchy I reckon so got 10 longer bolts from Nismo through Courtesy Nissan, $8 each. Anyway, are yours ok?

radius r6 (polished silver finish) in 18 inch!!

front 8" wide, back 9" wide.

very nice:p

cheers

rik

Hey James...

This is probably gonna sound stupid, but I honestly don't know. And now I'm a bit nervous. SE slapped the wheels on at the same time they fit the brake kit. When I dropped in they were cr*pping themselves a bit cos the offsets would've been fine with standard calipers, but the AP's slightly fouled on the back of the spokes. So they had some thin spacers made up (a couple of mm). They didn't mention anything about the studs being short. I've had the tyres turned since then, and the tyre guys didn't say anything either. So I've never thought it was a problem cos I'd never thought of it. Until now :( I can't check either ATM cos I haven't got the car. It's... um... being *modified*.

51x.........

hiya mate.

I'm sure yours are fine then, SE would've certainly said something eh? I've only got a problem with mine as they have a big bell on the wheel side of the disc. Didn't mean to worry you!

Hope you get yours back on the road soon!:D

For the feedback ...

Thinking on balance that it's gonna have to be 5-spoke jobbies. They are kinda classic.

Now all I've got to do is find the cash - and I've only done a couple of thou on my 4 new Pirellis! Arse - I should have realised at the time that 16 inches was not going to satisfy:eek:

Perhaps if I have an early word with Santa - hmmm, maybe or maybe not!

CheerZ,

John.

Eh? Not 5-spoke Kahns?! You wanna nice set of 3-spokes - they look the dogs-bollox on a 300!

EVERYONE should have different wheels to me, so mine stand out more! ;)

BTW: no worries James - I had a beer and all the worry went away :D

LOL, I got a set of three spokes in the shed. I think they came off an XR2 :p

There you go - Stu's got a nice set you can have! I presume they're, like, 13 inch or somink?! That would /totally/ blow the chicks away (literally!). Low profile is out, man! Big, fat rubber is where it's at! You could even chrome them up! Bling, bling!!!

Yes nice small wheels it's all good for the speed you know.

You don't what some huge ass rim slowing you down, but I guess you guys with your big number bhp figures are worried about such thing.

3 spokes all the way, there just SOOOOO COOL!!!!!

Rolling on dubz baby

:D

Don't go getting all techy now Mart. Hey MART! What the fuq are you doing on a 300 forum?!

You KNOW 3-spokes are the way! Think of all that ventillation! Really tho, to be true, you wanna go 1-spoke. And keep that diameter so small your tyres will be high enough profile you'll float if you stray into a lake.

Oh, man... low-pro is /so/ last week!

Yeah thanks ... more useful feedback guys:p

smw1, those XR2 wheels sound interesting - I've got a mouldy parsnip and half a bag of carrots in the fridge if you fancy doing a swap:eek: ....

13-inch on fat rubber, heh? What aspect ratio do I need, if the car isn't gonna be sitting on it's zorst??? They're gonna need to be at least 335/100 R13's - anyone know where I can get some of those? (Sort of like minature tractor tyres)

John.:D

Thanks Gio!

What a shame they don't support on-line purchasing:D

Techy, who me, Never!!!!!:p

I just thought I drop in and have a look around.

I'm waiting for the flames start what with me not having a 300.

I love my Lada Riva all the same:D

I don't think you can go far wrong with 5 spokes, it's a classic design, not a fashion wheel.

But wheels are a very personal choice, and at the end of the day your the one who has to live with the choice. As long as you like them. That's all that should matter, don't wory about trying to plese everyone else.
