Just noticed a listing on Ebay for a UK spec Cruise Control Module - £20 plus delivery. They claim that fitting this UK module to a JDM car will allow cruise control to be set at speeds above 69mph.

Does anyone know:-

1. Will this allow higher CC speed settings?

2. Where is the CC Module located?

3. Any gotchas?

Many thanks

I'm pretty sure the uk spec one allows you to cruise at higher speeds

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

i used to have it on mine and ive used it at at almost 100mph so they do work above the 69mph jap version limit

My Zed is an import and I can set the cruise control on at 100! Not that I've ever gone that fast

:whistling:

Then you have a Uk cruise or someone has modified it mate

Yes. I have a UK spec one in mine. £20 is pretty good. However I got mine for free. I did try a US one also.....but strangely, that one threw up errors and failed to work. I guess the dash input signals were probably different.

No 'gotchas'. Works perfectly and has been in my car for about 3 years.

Thanks Si - most helpful.

It was good to meet you at 'Haynes' a couple of weeks ago - loved your car.

Likewise Paul! Your vert looked great also! Nice to have one there. See a ton of them when I'm at US meets, but rarely at UK ones. :)

Cruise Control related question - when on cruise and I go to change gear, it doesn't disengage so the revs shoot up til I (very quickly!) cancel the CC!

This has only been a problem since my auto to manual conversion so I assume a connection somewhere has been missed?

You probably haven't got a clutch switch Vig!!

The what now? I assumed when I took my car to the garage and they supplied and ffitted a manual conversion that all related bits would have been taken care of....??

The clutch should have a switch behind it that disengages the CC once it's depressed. If the manual car that the manual conversion was taken from didn't have cruise control, then when the pedal assembly was swapped over, it wouldn't have found its way over as it didn't have one. Since your car was an auto to start with, it wouldn't have had one either. If either these weren't the cases, then either the switch (if it's there) is broken or the wiring is fooked. It is the ONLY thing to cause that.

If the clutch pedal assy that was fitted with the conversion had the switch fitted, then it's just a matter of wiring it into the module. If the clutch pedal used was from a non cruise model (it would only have one switch, not two) then you will need to replace the clutch pedal for one with a cruise switch attached or modify the existing pedal to house the switch/target.

It lives in the pax footwell next to the engine ECU.

You got a pic of one???

I might have one in my box of ECU stuff but I have no idea what it looks like as I dont have stuff like that on my car.

I'd love to get another one of these but can't really justify buying one at the minute with the engine going.

It's baz selling it on eBay

Sure is birdy boy ;)

Sure have chap...

Thanks!! I will have a look.

Does it need to be from a manwell or do auto ones do the job too???

Sounds like when my manual conversion was done this was missed then. I even queried it at the time...a number of times actually...but got no satisfactory reply.

Be good to sort this out finally then after 3+ years of 'careful' cruising gear changes!
