Let's keep this one simple...

Got the plenum off, was gonna do an egr delete, got the delete kit. Now the issue....

It's an absolute sod and I can't even see the pipe that comes from the manifold (It's a tt)

Can I remove the vac line and take a hacksaw to the pipes coming round to the plenum and be done? Am I right in thinking the valve is normally closed?

I know purists amongst you will have you opinions but I'm mainly just after a yes or no with this one.

I'm only thinking of this lazy way out because I've already bought the delete kit and one of the gaskets for the pipe into the plenum is a bit mashed. Dunno if I wanna risk putting it all back together only to find it's leaking.

you need to block both the 2xbolt flanges on the underside of the manifold/plenum.

and you will need to cap the line from the manifold to the EGR valve, or if the valve does open (and it still works) it will blow fumes around the bay.

the valve is on the back of the block above the bell housing. its a pig, yes. You can get your hand down the back but you will have to tell your friends that you werent trying to slice your wrists on purpose.

yes the egr valve is closed Normaly

 

removal of the 2 pipes from the plenum .. will leave you with 2 holes in it .. these will need blocking

Yeah, I know the procedure for doing it. Done it before on previous cars. Just really know it's gonna be next to impossible!

So removing the vac line to it will render it closed permanently right?

Ok, I can see the pipe from the manifold now (stuff in the way funnily enough). I've blasted the bolts in wd40 and I'm gonna attempt it with my nimble girl sized hands tomorrow after work.

I know if I leave it, it'll bug me so I might as well struggle over it for hours while the plenum is off.

full removal can be done in situ but time consuming...ive recently done a members here:wink:

You can always cut the erg lines, bung up the hole in the manifold and isolate the vac line. Good news you got the plenum off though mate.

Yeah, the plenum pull was far less complicated as I feared (he says before putting it all back together). Gives me the perfect opportunity to tidy up vac lines and bad "alterations" done at various points over it's 20 years.

Delete the Aiv, etc aswel that removes so much crap.

All the other deletes can be done with the plenum back in place right?

Hi mate, was looking for some help/advice on what can be blocked from the plenum and how? I know the egr and water can but again not sure how to and i see you mention aiv??? What is this please? Thanks
