Wheel Stud Replacement

Anyone know if you can chenge the rear wheel studs without pressing the hub out of the bearing.

Sure it'll be obvious when the disk's off but I can't be arsed looking at the mo.

old thread but this is what I want to know as well

hope so I see you can change the front one on the car but cant find if you can do the rear on the car

You don't need to press anything out. You do need to take the back plate to get those off which means removing the disk. I have Nismo rear studs on mine. Wheel off, caliper off, disk off, back plate off. Beat the old ones out and tap in the new ones. Then use a nut and washer to pull the stud through so that the stud looks into the hub.

ok but am fitting 20mm rear spaces that come with longer studs so will there be room to get the longer studs back in isn't the hand brake mech in the way

If you're fitting 20mm spacers, don't go the extended stud route, you're creating more work for yourself and I personally wouldn't want studs that long on my car. I only went extended stud because I went for 10mm hubcentrics as you can't get bolt-on versions in anything less than 15mm. There is no point wasting your time doing that, you really need to go for these.

You didn't search very hard then. Took me 1.5 minutes to find the ones I just posted. ;)

i have been looking for hours i can never find what am looking for on line. nice one that's what i wanted all along

No worries. One thing I'll add, from looking at your other thread is the fact that if you're going to add 50mm (effective) to the track of the rear of your car with the wheels you currently have, it's gonna look really strange from the rear.

i see what ye saying do you think i would be better off with smaller spacers

i like the wheels to much and don't want to change em love the rays am fitting 265 tyres on the rear very soon as there is 245 on at the mo ,so should i go for a smaller spacer then

5mm either side isn't going to make a whole lot of difference as a perspective. Any photos of the wheels either off or fitted? You have to bear in mind that whilst some wheels might be 'awesome' to look at, if they don't fit the car correctly, then they just aren't gonna look right on it. I often find, fitment is far better than style sometimes.

thay fit the car great at the mo am just thinking of rolling the arch and fitting a spacer just to make it look that little bit better

mite just go 15mm spacers then

Well the obviously don't which is why you're asking about spacers and getting them rebanded.

If you start rolling arches to get skinny wheels to fit them with large spacers, it'll resemble the paper Porsche above.

no thay really do look fine at the mo just tweeking it a bit

Flaring the arches out is not just tweaking it a bit. Get some photos up dammit! :p

the car is getting droped to as its sitting to high on stock springsSDC12223.jpg

Arrrrr those wheels, agreed, they're nice. You could probably get 275s on the rear of those quite happily. I'd say the rears look ok, I really wouldn't add spacers to those, especially flare the arches out as it'll look all wrong. Flared arches only really look good with aggressive fitment and dished/wide wheels. You have neither, leave it as it is. Where you want to concentrate your efforts is on those front wheels! I'd shoot for 15mm bolt-on spacers for those, to bring them out flush with the arches. Then paint the sills on your car red! :)

its getting lowered to get rid of the stupid gap that's look crap. i have a 99 spec bumper a rear low lever wing rear 99 spec lights and the whole car is getting a respray so the sill will be done then
