On a hairdressing course are you mate? Pfft mx5. And you'd struggle to insure it. It would be cheaper to insure a zed :) and thats a fact ian. Good luck with your lessons mate.

wow a mx5 more to insure than a zed well thats interesting and thanks mate

I've got an mx5, yes I'm a girlie but its great. They aren't that powerful but you can throw it around much more than the zed. It's actually more fun to drive cos it's less likely to throw you in a hedge and if you do break it you can just go out n buy another one!!

The main resons being a zed is older. Alot less claims for insurance comoanies on a zed than an mx5 due to popularity. Most mx5's if not all are verts which cost more generally. I have spent countless hours studying cars and their insurance quotes due to my age. If your actually going to be sensible then I can suggest the following cars ive insured.

Seat ibiza 1999 reg 1.4 that was £1400 first year

Peugeot 306 1999 reg 1.4 that was 2nd year but I had a bumo in the seat £1400

Skoda octavia 1.9tdi 130bhp 2003 £900

Now my zed ive changed the insurance over half way through and I had to pay for admis fees etc

Next year ill be looking arounf the £500-£600 mark.

Fully comp iS cheaper than third party (why I dont know but don't ask questions)

As for insurance company's as a youngster try the following buddy they helped me out

Post office (subsidiary of Aviva)

Dial direct (subsidiary of Aviva)

Auto direct (subsidiary of Aviva)

I am now with Admiral and I see alot of fellow members are too and they're brilliant....well for an insurance company they are anyway lol

If you get stuck or have any questions feel free to give us a call your dads got my number

Good luck!!

How things have changed. When I passed my test, my dad added me to his insurance for £15.

Thanks for the warning Ian! Hopefully my zed doesn't find out cus she'd refuse to start.
