No, it's just the grooves are nearly worn away? The calipers aswell have a really annoying creak when you push the brake at slow speeds and standing. Only had the car a week and I'm gonna be taking it too bits already!

Has anybody got any idea what make the wheels are aswell?

Probably just be best to replace the discs then mate. If the grooves are nearly worn away then they must be near end of life.

Better pics WILL help. You can NOT tell whether disks need replacing from that photo. The grooves in the disks aren't supposed to be deep anyway as it weakens the unit itself. Get a close up photo. The main measure of how worn a disk is....to run your finger down it. If it's badly scored and there's a BIG lip on it, bin them. You can't even tell that from this.

Looks a bit strange to me, the contact area of the pad looks to be only using 75% of the disc.

Not sure if those callipers match the disc's in my opinion.

As for the creaking noise, I would check for seized pistons myself.

The last thing you want is under performing brakes mate.

32mm discs can usually wear to 30mm thick after this bin them

Get a micrometer and measure the thickness to tell for sure.

They look like oem calipers using big disks and relocation brackets. Most of these upgrades don't utilise the whole disk surface area. A lot of performance pads tend to squeal with light use. I've heard many complaints from people using ferodo ds2500 pads, squealing at low speed but I can't remember if that was using standard calipers or brembos as standard calipers have the shims behind the pads.

Might be worth removing the pads and check for the presence of the anti rattle shims, have a quick inspection for seized pistons whilst you're there and also check to make sure the pad moves freely in and out of the caliper with the retaining pins in. Then reinstall with some copper slip behind the pad and on the shims etc.

My disks almost have the vains wiped clean off them, but they are still ok and do not need replacing any time soon, there is no big lip on them either.

I think you could be right, but ive got a receipt for over a grand for the front and rear conversion!!

Cripes! How long ago were they done, what does the receipt say was done and what brands were used? What conversion was done to the rear?

they were bought in 2009 from smithys-place, it says DBA Big brake kit and DBA rear discs to match!

im driving down to Croydon in it tonight and will be going over to Basildon tomorrow afternoon or sat morning so might drive up and deliver your boost controller if your about?

I've got the same brakes on mine. Hard to tell from pic but they look better than mine and they are still ok. I can't remember for certain what pads I had originally but they squealed like a pig all the time! Had red stuff since and never had a problem.

Anyway as the others have said measure them up, if not worn down or cracked/warped etc then I wouldn't worry about them.

Ah yes, in that case they will be DBA4000 wiperslot discs all round with relocation brackets up front to move the caliper out, housing the bigger diameter disc. The kit probably also came with braided lines and performance pads?

I'm on nightshift for the next couple of days so I will be in but potentially sleeping depending in the time, you're more than welcome to pop round though :)

The original pads were carbon/Kevlar or something like that for £175!

As said by gaz and joel measure the disc thickness, that Is the decided factor, discs with a lip can be machined back flat but its the thickness that would be taken into consideration as the official life of the disc itself.

I think the repair limit for the front discs is 28mm minimum thickness and the rear is 16mm thickness. ( ref' uk tt lwb targa)
