Lol I will have a look

Cheers m8 im on my phone and the battery died during the search lol

that's fair enough...

this is the full spec conversion...

they are downloadable word docs..

here is a link to an online one.. quick fix one.

however this mod only works for when the lows are no... if you have no lights on it will flash both highs and lows... so you need to do the full mod on the first link to fix that.

on the subject of HIDs, are these MOT compliant if they have to been retrofitted to non HID lamps?

i realise there are separate tests for modern HID cars which include self leveling and washer sprays, but do they apply in this case?

just so that i know if i need to swap back to the old lamps or not before i stick it in for a test.

cheers,

HID's are a bit of a grey area i think

im not 100% sure but i thiink its at the testers discretion

The place i get mine mot'd it passed as the beam pattern was spot on and the tester had seen what the standard lights were like and agrees that the HID's are a safety feature

the Zeds have projector lenses so the beam pattern isn't a problem.

as far as self levellers and washers the test instructions are that "if" they are fitted they most work correctly.

so since neither UK not JDM Zeds have self levelling systems you are good to go.

there are previous posts on this subject with extracts & links to the DVLA / MOT test information.

I would advise to ensure that the manual adjustment system is OK since the plastic cog often split and need replacing.

If the tester is anal then he'll fail them but this as far as I am aware is rare, my advice would be to warm them up before you take it in if that's possible, then at least they'll come straight on when required and the examiner will not bat an eyelid and will just be too busy with the next job on his list - testing for alignment :thumbup1:.

sounds perfectly reasonable. If i can find the old halogen lamps il swap them out and ask the tester on the day, chances are il just stick it through with HIDs.

cheers,

Just Put the Black/earth wire from the HID Unit to the chassis

Done

Yup - that is the simple way.....

....It does mean though, that the HID dipped beam will also illuminate when you "flash" your headlights if dipped beam is off; but it is much simpler than wiring in the whole resistor thing!!

As for the MOT, like it has been said above, it's all at the tester's discretion. And as the dipped lights are enclosed in the projector beam, it's unlikely that anyone will actually notice you have after market HIDs fitted - it's nothing like the Corsa boys who fit H4 replacements into a halogen lamp set-up which does very little else than blind all oncoming traffic!!

Don't worry about headlamp washers either - I have a UK spec car and my headlamp washers have not worked in 4 years; but I have had no problem in passing 4 MOTs with HIDs and the washers not working!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
