Its good to have a plan or dream as it keeps you alive and travelling is a great idea.

Nothing planed mate but the main hope is for good health as I see so many people go down hill after retirement.

Gaz, after my major heart attack 2.5 years ago, that's why I am still working full time at 68, so will never retire lolllllllllllll

Thought you was 48 Chris;)

I don't think I could ever properly retire whilst I am active and healthy..... I'd get bored so easily so I reckon I'd still have to do something!!

I'd like to be in the position where I don't actually have to work though; that way whatever you do will never be a chore as you can just walk away if you get pissed off with it. I'm "only" 43 at the mo, I have the prospect of over 20 years work left - but I'd like to be in the aforementioned position by the time I'm 50, just so I could take things easy if I wanted..... We'll see though!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'm 32 with 7 month old twins and the wife wants more......I'll never be able to retire.

Been in the Merchant Navy for 15 years, and the pension ain't worth jack. I'll still be driving tugs when I'm 65 most likely. Meh, at least it's something I enjoy doing.

I like the motor home idea Bri. I'd love one myself but id have to be in America with it. Any room in those garages for my car?

I retired on 19th July, and believe me I have been far from bored so far, I'm thinking of going back to work to have a rest:sweatdrop:

Ian keeping you busy Keith?

I'm thinking about taking early retirement and letting my other half pay the bills. Then I can go out n have fun!!

I'm 41 and been a full time foster carer for nearly 7 years now, staying at home looking after children while my wife goes out to work.... Feels like I retired years ago.....lol

I am going back to work in the next few weeks after 10 years of ill health.... So I will finally be able to start saving and planning my retirement.....

I want to retire to a nice quiet rural house with a big barn or workshop and make, design, mend things.... I like problem solving, designing solutions and generally working with my hands......lol

So a fully kitted workshop will do me for my retirement......lol

Unlike my dad who started playing golf when he retired and hasn't returned from the golf course for 20 years.......lol

I know I am going to grow old disgracefully.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

The way the world is I will probably have to work till I drop, that's life shit happens and have tried to live a risk free life which means I have feck all for retirement, just hope I can live long enough to try and enjoy something.

I would say most people around their late 30's to 40's have no financial contingency in place and have to get by day to day, week to week or month to month, the cost of living is higher but the wages have actually gone down in comparison making it harder to save or put money away or into a pension plan.

I include myself in the above and dont think that far ahead in reality, if we spend all our time worrying about retirement plans then we arent living the now.

In fact if we were really that bothered then certainly wouldnt own a zed lol

After losing my dad to cancer at 62 I kind of feel that plans are only any good if your still here to carry them out. So I'm just going to try and enjoy every day as it comes and if something annoys me I won't do it again and try something else!! Anyway how can you save for retirement and drive a zed?

I try not to plan anything as it always goes tits up! I shall grow old gracefully probably skint and probably still running round after my boys but I have taken out life insurance so they will have something when I'm gone, which gives me a little satisfaction that they should be ok.

How did you guess tom??

Sorry.....lol. You know I would have done it myself, but someone has to go on holiday.....pmsl.

Yup, retire to France....or if I am living in the US by then, there. I have something big in the pipeline with the latter of the two!

The US is blown out the water mate, finnished and would now be one of the last places to retire on my list. The nation as a whole has no compassion for anyone not involved in goverment, hollywood or on the Federal payrole:rolleyes: When myself and the wife and daughter travel she now leaves her US passport in her handbag and goes Britania:lol:
