Big joint Southern, Western and Welsh meet at Haynes Motor Museum - 1st September

Haynes Motor Museum is an awesome place. We had a Z meet there about 6 or 7 years ago and people came from Wales, Devon, Cornwall, the south coast. I think it's high time another large gathering was organised for those that either don't want to make the drive up to northern wherever to where most of the large shows are.

There are some awesome cars here and it really is a great day out and not expensive. If anyone isn't aware of this place, then I'd be surprised. It's owned by John Haynes who started the Haynes Manuals and is one of the largest car collections in the UK. Entrance is only a tenner, so it isn't going to break anyone's bank. There are cars from all walks of life from classics to super cars, even a few chavy modified things that they built with Lax Power, so if you're into your filler and fibreglass, you can get your fix here too! :)

Sunday September 1st is actually the 'rare breeds event' and it certainly would be good to bring some Z32s to the mix and maybe of the 350z club or Zclub want to join in, that would be awesome.

No, unless you want to smash into all the other exhibitors there! haha

That would be the first late start this week. I'm out of the house about 5 most days. Yes even on a Saturday lol.

That sucks! I'm having a lay in. Just stripped and prepped my engine bay for paint. Want it looking half decent under the bonnet before next week.

We have another 260Z coming along also! Shame the 350 guys seem about as interested as receiving a copy of The Watchtower from the JWs. Nothing new there though, would have been nice to have a 350 there at least 1!

No worries mate, just let me know a time. I don't need sleep... Ha

Think it would be a good thing to have a bit of a pre-meet meet...if that makes sense. There will be quite a few people turning up without their Z cars, so it would be good to catch up with everyone for half an hour before heading over.

I'll try. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Sent so many updated lists, but I can't imagine there'll be a problem. Be good to have you along.

Thanks Gaz.

This is going to be an interesting day. I have just found out that drivers of entered cars all get free entry to the museum, there are cruises going on, a parade round the track, cream teas, competitions and John Haynes is doing the prize giving around 4! Over 100 cars going and weather looks dry!

I am covering the front of my car and mirrors with cling film! Ruddy bugs! Luckily, my folks live in Glastonbury, so I can give it a mild freshen up there.

Never used the screenwash in my Z. I find that it just smears with bugs on the screen anyway.

We now have a 350z guy coming along! Nice little compliment of Z cars! Something that seldom happens anywhere south of the Billing Aquadrome!

Righty....final details for Sunday:

Aim to be at Podimore Services by 9am - 9.15am. It'll be a good chance for everyone to meet up as there are a number of folks who'll not be taking their Z cars. I am suggested heading off in convoy about 9.45am at the absolute latest as Haynes want all cars that are going to be on show to be on-site by 10 to register and collect our wrist-bands. Haynes Museum is only about 10-15 minutes away,

Now, this is a car-show, not wanting to sound anal, but please make sure your cars are clean! :)

The show lasts all day and car owners in the show, you're encouraged (by the organisers) to stay until the award ceremony at 4 (given by John Haynes himself). Appreciate some of you may have commitments, like myself, I have to head to Portsmouth and I'll likely be leaving about 2pm. There will be plenty to do during the day. Museum visit, a parade lap around the track, a few group runs into the country, show & shine competitions and food, plus over 100 private cars on show from MG Midgets to Bristol Fighters and so on and so forth.

Weather forecast is currently dry, but cloudy, so bring a sweater just in case you find 20 degrees a little cool.

Postcode for Podimore Services is BA22 8JG. It's off of the Podimore Roundabout on the A303.

If you're coming from the London direction, keep in the left lane and take the first exit off. The road kinda double backs and keep your eye out for the entrance, again, on the left - See below (Podimore Roundabout Exit on A303)

podimore3_zpsf12416d5.jpg

If you're coming from the Yeovil/Exeter way, you go right at Podimore roundabout on the A303, so get in the right lane and turn and you'll see it signposted.

podimore2_zpsef2615c5.jpg

There are a number of other country roads that join up with this roundabout, but the A303 is the main road. It's not the biggest service station in the world, but there should be parking there as there's a Travelodge, Burger King/Little Thief + an Esso or Total petrol station. I am not entirely sure at what part of the service station we'll meet as I'll imagine a few other car clubs will be meeting there at a similar time, but hopefully we'll be able to all bunch up together.

Service station entrance. It's slightly hidden on the slip round, so keep your eyes peeled for the left turn and this is the view you'll have.

podimore_zps41c85787.jpg

If anyone gets there late and we're not there, the postcode for Haynes Motor Museum is BA22 7LH If you're coming from Podimore Roundabout, head toward Andover/London on the A303 and exit on the Sparkford/Castle Cary junction. Head down the hill until you get to the T-Junction at the bottom and turn right. Haynes Motor Museum is about 200 yards further down that road on the left.

Lastly, if anyone has any problems or gets lost, my number again is 07510169836

Club member for 6 years (oops - make that 7 years!). Was spotted once in the lake district, but never been to a meet - aiming to put that right tomorrow.
