Now I've always thought the Z32 was an attention grabber, but today really did prove that. I don't normally take my car to shows as there are never any around in the 'reasonably local area' and there are never any I like (car guy type car shows)...ie, for me, 'Donny' and 'Modified Madness' are my ideas of hell! But we're lucky that in Bristol, there's a monthly meet called the Avenue Drivers' Club that meets at Queen's Square in Bristol, only 5 miles from my house which is in Portishead. What's awesome about this monthly gathering is that it caters for the true car guy, so no riced out heaps with nasty bodykits and tacky modifications, this was full of Ferrari 348s, 355s, Lotus Esprits, classics (E-types, MGs etc), American muscle, hotrots and other excotica. IE, my type of car show. It's a very similar format to 'Cars and Coffee' or 'Supercar Sunday' events that I go to in the USA. Everyone arrives around 9am, parks up, grabs tea and coffee from the little coffee shops down the side streets and just mingle with other car enthusiast. HEAVEN!

Well, I thought it high time I take my Z down there. Now I know Yewcheck sometimes goes to this show, but he wasn't there...which was good as mine was the ONLY Z32 there. 911s outnumbered it 10-1!, even Esprits by 3-1!

When I take my Z to the continent, it gets a stupid amount of attention and I feel like a porn star riding round in it, it gets attention in the UK, but this meet was awesome. I counted about 30 people take photos of it, lots of looks, poking heads inside to see what it was like. Heard a LOT of nice comments and was asked all sorts of questions about it. It got more attention that my friend's 19,000 mile Lotus Esprit.

This is a selection of the sort of vehicles that turn up.

Here's today....only 2 pics I'm afraid (and they're both crap), but I'll be going again. Such a feel-good factor after owning a car for nearly a decade and all the care that's gone into its ownership to get noticed so much. It was flattering and very rewarding.

I'd say it's worth the drive....on a nice dry day. Such a lovely atmosphere there. The guy that painted my Z was there too. His Ferrari 355 Spider can just about been seen on the right hand side of the first photo.

well done si.

just goes to show what a truly amazing car the z32 is.

ifit had a ferrari badge on it they would be worth 10x what they are.

just goes to show that some people only want a badge to show off and not a great car.

Thanks Dave.

Sure does, I think the reason it got so much attention was that no one really knows quite what it is. It's not got the instantly recognisable shape that say, a 911 has, or a 355, or an Esprit, but it has massive road presence and is a very rare sight on British roads, so people become drawn to it.

...there was an older Italian chap there with a classic Alfa Sud and a Ferrari 348 who lives in the same town as me and said "You're from Portishead, I've seen this car out and about - a really beautiful car" in his very pronounced Italian accent. Made me grin from ear-to-eat. The Z32 is still alive and kicking!

looking at yours in the pictures it outstands the lotus easily.

would love to see nissan make a 25yr anniversay z32 limited edition model.

would really help put it back on the map.

They did a 40 th anniversary 370, I'd like to see a 50th anniversary z car the 400zx ain't gonna happen though.

Car looks very pristine Si !:cool3: Credit to you.

Loving the purple 69 Challenger ! :w00t:

Alan........

Wow there are some stunning cars there..... Loads of TLC and hard work put into them....

Your car stands out so much there as being a stunning example of a Z car...... Superb Si it looks amazing...... I wish mine would look that good without having to hide the accident damage and bad bodywork with a bodykit.....lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Thanks guys! I think I got there a little late for their 'official photographer' to snap photos of mine and the link I provided shows cars from last month only so far. I am sure the flickr account will get updated in due course.

Post them on Facebook Si, so we can all "like" them for our non-Z friends to see how good a Z can look !

I reckon I know what you mean Si - but please don't forget that a lot of other members do like Donny and the other typical car shows mate....
