Hi All,

My name is Simon, born and stuck firm in Reading, Berks. I currently own a Nissan Silvia S12, which some of you may have seen at Reading Jap Meet (Project Thread). After a year of owning my 12, and a 14a before it I am becoming tired of the driving experience of an overstressed 4 pot and fancy something a bit more mature (and capable). I have just finished my Comp Sci degree, and bagged a decent job hence I am here and on the look out for a Z32 TT, preferably manual, to spend all my new found cash on. I have through scrimp and save owned a Jag XJR (X308), but found it a bit dull in the handling/thrills department - so hopefully a 300zx will be just as capable but more exciting!

Outside of cars, I do tech/electronics/urban exploring/music/food etc. I am also more than willing to make new friends & help work on peoples cars where I can for a few beers, so if you have problems (especially electronic/ecu/wiring/ecu socketing etc) let me know!

Looking forward to finding the right car, and getting to know everyone!

Regards,

Simon

Welcome to the forum Simon, nice to have you on board. Thanks for the offer of help to the members, I am sure you will be kept busy.....lol.

Will keep a look out for a nice TT for you then, if you don't mind me asking, what is your budget?

Cheers for the welcome, I like to make myself useful.

At the moment, I am still waiting for first payday & some other things to "line up" - so unless someone hopelessly wants an S12 for swaps, a little limited. However, as of about a months time 3k-5k depending on the car :)

Regards,

Simon

Edit: Just subscribed as a proper member, my SXOC renewal was due so I figured new car plans, fee is better of going to this place !

Hi and welcome...

I got jobs for you already...lol..

a fix for the bulb out sensor (in the back of the car) to be led tolerant.

a better fix for the high beam flash turns off the low bean (i.e. make them independent) the current fix was a little complex for me so I've only half done it.

a fix for the wipers making a final wipe when you turn them off.

cheers.. :)

Great you have subscribed Simon, you will make that back in help and advice on here. It never ceases to amaze me what members will do for other members on here.

3-5k should pick you up a tasty Zed buddy. This one is beautiful if you like the SWB and slicktop look: -

Welcome Simon and thank you for subscribing.I have a small job for you if you pm me your details I will send you a membership pack. Details can be found in the membership section or you might want to wait till you get a zed to compete all the details. Good luck.

Seeing as I don't start working for a few weeks, that might just give me something to mess about with. The last two on that list seem to plague just about every Nissan. *screeeeeeeeeetch* as the final wipe occurs and its not raining!

Hi Gary, I was looking at sending you the details - but (correct me if I am wrong) I need to wait for the thread of Membership numbers to be updated ? If not I will PM you now, and update you when I do get a Z :)

Gary will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you need to wait for the membership number list to be updated, Gary will have all that information to hand anyway.

Give Dean a shout and explain the situation, I am sure you guys could come up with something between you.

I may well do, but I am cautious that if anything changes I could end up being an epic timewaster - I would rather wait until the cash is in hand :)

With regards to the lights, it looks like it may be possible to build some electronics into a standard relay package and make it a plug in mod - I will knock one up when I get my hands on a Z.

I have been reading that the final wipe actually makes the wipers park slightly lower than normal, not sure if there is any truth to that, someone will have to let me know. It looks possible to stop the final wipe, but it may leave the wipers looking out of place.

I am playing with circuit simulations of the rear bulb sense stuff now :)

Don't worry about membership number I can sort that out but for you ID that is on your club lanyard has your car details so that will be incomplete.

Ah that makes sense, I will wait until I have a car to send you the details if that's ok ?

a fix for the bulb out sensor (in the back of the car) to be led tolerant. Take the bulb out the dash, sorted

a better fix for the high beam flash turns off the low bean (i.e. make them independent) the current fix was a little complex for me so I've only half done it. Simple quick fix is to add an earth to one bulb to the body, the lights will stay on with high beam but will also be on when you flash

a fix for the wipers making a final wipe when you turn them off. I think Phutumsch has done it

cheers.. :)

Cheers

LOL... I've done the first two... Hack!!!

hadn't see the wiper one.. :(

I did commend you on the post about the beams mod ... I might take that back now.. :p ... :flowers:

I think its about time that some of the mods are updated with write ups, can only help in the future:wink:

Aha, seems I have fallen into the middle of some club politics already !

Groover - I am guessing you are an electrically minded person , from your write up. I was thinking of popping two 15a sub miniature relays into a standard casing, to allow independent control of each earth, leaving the high beams controlled by the original circuit, and earthing the coil control second one in a similar way to phutumsch's update, but at the back of the L-H Headlamp relay in the fusebox. Could pack it all in to two standard relay cases, linked with a small wire - and it would plug right in!

Thanks all !

Anything that makes the mod easier can only be a good thing and no politics here mate, all input is greatly appreciated, we have a couple of electronics boffins in the club and its great to see it injected with new ideas and enthusiasm, so dont ever think you are treading on anyones toes lol
