What Exhaust do you have?...Varex Mufflers oppinions...

If some of you remember i'm looking at changing my exhaust, The pipes from my mid section to the backbox are badly corroded and have got little holes behind the wheels and they're slowly getting bigger.

I'm still unsure what to do. I've managed to find a place in Darlington that will replace those two pipes with stainless and attach them to my original Kakimoto boxes for £80 a side. however the boxes are quite old and looking through the pipe it doesn't seem to have a lot of packing left inside them.

The bloke said if I provide new back boxes he will fit them at no extra charge. but if he were to be providing the back boxes then it would be £200 a side, but he said it would be very loud, and would probably ruin it.

So in the spirit of keeping it quiet I've come across the Xflow varex mufflers, for those that aren't familiar its basically a muffler with a remote operated butterfly valve in the box giving you the option of a silenced muffled sound, or at the push of a button a straight through pipe

the only problem been is that they are based in Australia, so shipping is expensive

Through talks with a bloke on ebay I've managed to work out a deal that will get me a pair of the 2.5" cannon boxes (or ovals, haven't quite decided yet) to my door for around £665 including VAT at customs and excise. then there's the £80 fitting each of course on top.

I just can't decide weather that's a little over the top or not, just to have a change of sound on the mufflers.

My worry is if I buy another system off the shelf then it'll end up been too loud and i'll regret doing it.

Any thoughts or ideas? What system is most common, and what do they sound like?

I like a roar when smashing it about some country roads, but I hate a constant drone on motorway trips. mine at present isn't too bad, but at the same time i'm only comparing it to my friends systems on their cars. I've never actually heard another zed from the inside...

That's the system marks got, the one brain doesn't like. I like it, but I think you would need about 500hp+ to make up for that amount of noise.

Right after watching the thread I now want a new exhaust.....lol

Anyone got a spare veilside for me Please......?

Another option to consider. Not sure if anyone else has these in the UK yet. Although....they are possibly the complete opposite to what you are after...
