Near Chorley yesterday

I suppose someone must love it!

I do remember vaguely seeing these things when I was a kid, surely only the French could design something like that.... and then sell it to us!

Or maybe it's just me, is it a classic and worth loads dosh?

It's French, its fugly and its a particularly unpleasant shade of green. Ug!!

I agree....

however it is a 73/74 Citroen DS21 Pallas and could be worth the same kind of money as your lovely Zed:huh:

citreon pallas very high tech for the year hydropneumatic suspension which had a self leveling system one of first cars to use disc brakes and i belive the headlights turn with the steering wheel.think the front number plate is behind a perspex panel for some reason .

Yup. Still honking!! Putting lipstick on a pig.

Agreed

My local Citroen spcialist has one on display in his showroom. Black tho which is a little better

classic car very space age and very good looking indeed

That was the Maserati/Citreon version, the Citreon DS is valuable the Maserati/Citreon version is worth mega bucks, and would probably put the price of any Zed to shame.....lol. I personally love them. And yep the headlights did turn with the steering, not bad for a car developed in the 50's.

very valuable vey nice and id love one prob not much in that and an na z in performance quick car in it's day like a french rs6 equivalent back then

Yup - ugly ugly cars...... But yes, they are quite valuable now as they were very hi-tech in their day and there are so few left in good condition nowadays....

I was not aware they were quick though....

Richard:thumbup1:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

And of course the other benefit of them is that on the lowest suspension setting they can't be wheel clamped.

And very very comfortable. It was like riding on a cushion of air in my uncle's which I suppose you were really.....lol.

Here's one that sold for £109,950. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/classified-ad-of-the-week-2011-04-18 If you think the DS (and if you pronounce those letters in French, they sound like the French for Goddess) was first shown in 1955, they were staggeringly advanced. Hydropneumatic suspension, didn't need a jack to change a wheel, single spoke steering wheel, digital speed display (ish), space-age looks, aerodynamic, very comfy ride. Limo choice of the French gov't and saved the life of Charles de Gaulle http://jalopnik.com/5928024/how-the-citroen-ds-saved-a-french-presidents-life Oh, and front discs and monocoque construction. Vive La France!

Pretty sure they're quite valuable.

yea to the chinese for scrap metal:laugh:

This is the only one that's worth any REAL value. The SM....complete with Masserati engine.

£12,995 for a 2CV anyone? Might be the cheapest Bond car you can afford...

That nudged a brain cell: someone bolted a Garrett T2 onto one http://www.2cv-il.org/english/Article2cvTurbo.html

And how about this:

The one I posted said D Super 5 on the back

While talking Citreon a guy I used to work with had 2 CV 'Dolly' and raced me round a chicane on the road we used to have to drive to work on the industrial estate. Lets just say his leaned over and went round the last bend on his bicycle wheels and my Cortina Mk 4 estate (at the time) came out sideways

I also heard that the did a versone of the 2CV with two engines, one on the front and one in the back! Don't know if htat is true unless i bothered to google it

Well seems like that Citreon was a rare spot of mine up in Chorley yesterday, but I still think is is very fugley

Could be a fun thread to have 'rare spot of the week' or something seeing as we pretty much all have phone/cams these days.... but there would have to be no cheating or it would be totally pointless

1) If that was on the Yorktown Road Industrial Estate, that was my Green 2CV! That 2CV linked front rear suspension (idea borrowed by Lotus for their F1 car this year haha) meant you could achieve terrifying angles going round corners - terrifying for passengers who weren't used to it.

2) They did indeed. The Citroen Sahara. They simply took an engine/gearbox/wheels unit and turned it through 180 and stuffed it in the boot.

Even our navy bought some!
