Looking for options really on upgrading the brakes. find the standard suffer brake fade..

im aware of the DSports and Ksports, brembos, gtr33's interested in your thoughts if you have these but also are there any other options?

reading through the threads someone has made a bracket and fitted Porsche brakes etc.

Looking at infrequent track use but also I can use with spirited driving but without the brake fade and some increased stopping power...

cheers

I really like the look of brakes from other sports cars on there - such as Porsche, Maserati, Aston Martin etc. any machine shop could make you up some brackets :)

Most high-end Performance production cars utilise either Brembo or AP racing calipers, often rebadged with the Vehicle logo.

I have AP Racing 6pots. If you were to find a set of AP Racing brakes of another vehicle, I could very easily draw up my 300zx brackets in 3D CAD for people to get produced, for anyone interested. ?

Its a also worth noting that if you find any aftermarket brake setups for the Skyline R32/R33/R34 , 200SX or 350z then they all share the same Fitment and can be easily fitted to the 300zx without any different bracket hardware.

after fitting new seals and a full flush and re-fill with new fluid the OEM j-spec calipers are fine on my car, whats the weak link is the very small sized front discs imho.

So any Skyline big brake package is a straight fit on our Zeds (wheels accommodating, of course)...?

pretty much

Kev - what are you doing to get fade? the stock setup shouldn't fade on the road

VXR8 brakes are reverted AP brakes if that helps.

Monkfish Performance normally have a few set sets laying around

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Ill tak a look, cheers...

I had r33 discs and standard calipers on a bracket. It was rubish

Changed to r33 discs and calipers, so much better

I do think a lot of the faults with zed stock brakes can be fixed with a change of fluid and freeing up all the mooving parts. My vert stock brakes were so much better when i got it than either of my zeds with r33 discs and stock calipers, but has faded over the years ive had it

I may be wrong, but as i understand it, spirited driving, especially with the stock brakes gets the brake fluid very hot. Boiled brake fluid is no use for stopping a car, brake fluid that has previously got very hot is less use than fresh

exactly, once the fluid's been boiled it needs replacing

Kev,

If you're happy with the stopping power, but want to get rid of fade, then change the fluid over, and put some better pads in that don't mind the heat!

Other option is to buy ksport 8pot fronts, my rear setup and you'll never have to worry about brakes again!

I have been trawling the forum reading brake advice, and most people say well maintained standard ones are fine. However I bought some of those MTEC Ebay discs with 30 quid Brembo pads (all new parts) fitted with new ss lines and dot 4 and they have failed dangerously. I'm no lunatic in my car but in a couple of months they warped and the braking shudder is so bad I can't describe it. You can see the entire car shaking inch side to side at at an awful frequency even under lightish braking.

Avoid.

ive put mtec on the BM with red stuff pads and they have been great. miles better than stock..

been on a while now...

I have K-Sport 8-pot front calipers with 330ml grooved discs - I don't really have the need to stand on the brakes much but they stop the car well enough and look good through the alloys.
