The best Dean IMO are the switchback ones and here's a vid of mine, act as signal and sidelight in the one chamber and you cannot get whiter/brighter or more amber :thumbup1:.

ย

They are ยฃ25 a pair but you did ask what was best !!

ย

Just passed MOT with them as well .

I assume this requires rewiring a double point bulb holder for the unit?

ย

Yes it does, stop/tail bulb holder is what you need and just dremel the lugs a tiny bit so they twist and lock.

ย

Then connect up the three wires, one to ground, one to sidelight and the other to indicator, the chip in the bulb does the switchback bit.

ย

The other chamber you'll see I have just the smaller T10 5 smd bulb/holder in there, this works as that curb light, thus you see coming on when dipped are on and you signal that corner.

Is there anything close that doesn't require modification?

ย

You need to state what bulb holders you have, presuming they are the T10 type, I often recommend these

Yup - that's the type of thing that I have...

ย

.....They are a nice clear white, with just a little hint of blue to match the HIDs. I popped a set in my SLK too...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
