As I have changed my rear bumper I don't want to be having a fog light fitted to it. In order to avoid this I have utilised the centre panel and basically unplugged one side and replaced it with a red led fog light bulb. So basically the rhs will be reverse lights and the lhs will be fog light.

My question is has anyone done this as simple as it sounds or would there be any issues with doing this. I am aware that there are units for sale.

I've done this, but I've also kept the reverse light. I simply swap part of the loom out and bulb holder at MOT time giving me a fog light. Because I have never had call to use it, when it's not in 'MOT mode', I have 2 reversing lights. :)

For me I want to keep one side fog and the other reverse so basically I've just reallocated my fog to one side of my panel with no mods to it apart from wires and bulb. Would I be ok with one side with reverse light? And other fog?

Perfectly acceptable to have one reverse light and one fog light. It's pretty much the standard conversion method on these cars so far as I can tell.

I have fog on one side and a cable ran to a rocker switch in the front. Just remember that Fog light switches must be "in view of driver" and have an indicator light showing when they are on. Most MOT people would ignore this, but if you get an arsey one then it will fail (as I found out 2 weeks ago).

Medallion Man did modify his centre panel to give 2 of both by fitting extra lights, but that's alot of extra work.

Cheers fellas:thumbup1: medallion that's the conversions I was initially looking at but thought it would be a cheaper option to just replace one side with a single fog bulb.

Appreciate the input.

Cheers for this.

I do have a switch already installed at the front near the steering wheel and it does have a light to indicate when it is on/off I'm just going to now wire to the panel for my fog.

Like I said, that's what I've done. I just revert it back to twin reverse lights as I NEVER use the rear fog light and having 2 reverse lights is far more beneficial AND looks better. :) 5 second job swapping them out with how I've wired it in.

yeah, spot on, that is how I had mine at first.... does the job nicely and without complication...

I only did mine that way in the end because I had a spare set and some spare time....

After I did them the led inserts came along and at £12 each made my mod overly complicated.....

However the inserts are no longer available and so for the full working rear section mine carry favour again.

If you do want them like that I can do it for you.... :) (or something to think about in the future)

Cheers mate it could be something I will look at in the future at the moment funds are going into the kit being fitted so opted for cheaper option.

Again your feedback is really appreciated pal.

You cannot have it like that John, you need to swap them over as the fog needs to be either in the center or the offside :thumbup1:.
