personally id go for the HKS SSQV's

Having monitored fuelling on BOV-equipped cars with MAF sensors, they didn't go rich enough to cause borewash. Stock AFRs on Nissans & Toyotas from the 90s run into the 10s at any rate.

If you're just after the noise, you can't beat a closed system in my opinion. No BOVs, no recircs, just flutter/chatter/pigeon on every lift.

i spoke to z world who said single piston valve will give probs but the duel piston should be ok but did say different car do different things but in general the duel piston is ok to use

is this valve duel piston

That's due to unmetered air being emitted at idle. Single piston BOVs are no good for cars with MAFs.

HKS SSQVs work fine, they are different in design to other dump valves.

just looked at them fook me thay ar stupid prices sod that off.

Cheap eBay version works just as well as the genuine item.

will have a look now. i see bailey do a duel piston kit with all the bits you need any thay any good

All dump valves are rubbish, unless you're buying them cheap and like the noise. I've run everything from Forge to Baileys to HKS (gen & fake) to a GFB Bovus Maximus, and yet I still remove them all after a couple of weeks. Current cars with no dump valve at all are my Pulsar (1.9 bar), MR2 (2.3 bar) and Zed (1.5 bar). Also my Musso TD at 1 bar :wack:

doesn't that induce lag though and also put extra strain on the turbos? surely when the air stalls and then exits back out the intake side of the turbo, its not good for it, given that the OEM turbos are prone to leaking at the seals would that not be a issue?

Who's gonna notice a couple of tenths of seconds in the real world? But who is gonna notice the noise? Everyone

I used apexi ones on my silver z, loved them will be putting them on my new one when finished

What type are apexi?

Not so I've noticed on any of my cars I've taken up the strip. 2.3 bar will be straining the turbo plenty, a bit of air rebounding back from the throttle plate and tickling the blades isn't going to matter. It's all horses for courses though. You've got atmospheric for the psst noise, recirc for emissions & noise control, or none for the fluttering noise and no leaks for big boost. I go with the latter, because it's one less component (or 2 in the case of the Zed) that can be problematic. My stock Auto turbos have been running 1.4-1.5 bar with no pressure relief valve of any kind for quite some time.

:punk::punk::punk::punk::punk::punk::punk::punk:

Wastegate chatter is far nicer and is a noise with a purpose. DVs....meh. Willy waving and they sound like the noise of a Scania's air brakes.

I have aftermarket recircs on mine. Wastegate chatter is much louder.

I've got baileys I think mark has to. Bailey are pretty recognised brand esp in the ford world so you can know they're a half decent quality product, not made of cheap alloy that will corrode next week.

All i can say cheap bov's doesn't work on z :) i bought a set of cheap bov's on the forum and could not boost more than 5psi. Now fitted baileys and very happy :) so don't waste money on cheap bov's
