Morning all....

My clutch is on the way out and I'd like some advice on what would be the best replacement.

Am looking for a road-use clutch, as I don't intend to take it on the Ring or anything.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Anita.

P.S. - Craig - like the new look forum! :D :D

if your car is staying stock, then id go for a centerforce clutch, as the feel is as good if not better than stock.

but start adding boost ect then you would be better of with an act clutch.

You can get some very good deals from AVLON racing in the states, regarding clutches.

Cheers Warren...what sort of price am I looking at here?

My car only stays Stock until things need doing....the clutch needs doing so..... :D I just need a decent one that can take some mods as the Zed begins to need work doing to it.

Anita.

speak to smiffy, got mine through him with some other bits

stage 2 RPS for around £340 delivered i believe

Will do! :D That doesn't seem too bad...Kind of in the range that I was expecting, anyway. :)

Does Smiffy still frequent this place?

What - and chip my newly polished nails?? I think not, baby puppy... :) :p :D

Afternoon Ajay, mail me direct if yer like or text me yer number and i'll give yer a call back (07624-490098)

Deal in Rps Clutches and Flywheels for stock cars right upto the big horse power jobs, the americans favour these over the ACT as being more like stock pedal feel and reliability.

cheers

smithy:cool: or smiffyy :D

Cheers Smithy....my moby's in the car, which is incredibly helpful, so I'll text you my number in a bit... :)

...That RPS has an excellent reputation over here. I personally have a Sprung Hub, Six Puck sport clutch I have yet to install :(

But I did about a months worth of research on the web, and from other tt.net members experiences and decided that the best reputation was had by RPS, with second being JWT then ACT. Centerforce was noted as being one of the worst.

Good luck.

I wouldn't recommend an ACT clutch for a lay-dee; the pedal is very stiff!

:p

Are you joking or are you just fvcking blind tim??? LMFAO :D:D:D There was a time a few months back where the tech forum only consisted of "My auto box behaves like a twat" posts :D The only reason there aren't any now is cos they've all converted to manual :p LMFAO

CheerZ,

Andy

i've been recommended an AP clutch from a man in the know, says they are perfrect for zeds, was going to get one fitted to mine.

Well, looks like that time has come...

Might be able to get it done under the Warranty, which would be my ideal solution as it means that I don't pay for anything. :D Depending on how much it costs, of course... :(

Smiffy - I'll mail / text you my moby number....might be needing to talk to you in the not-so distant future...

Cheers

Anita.

dont want to depress you any more ajay, but check your warranty paperwork - clutches are rarely covered as they are considered an item that should be replaced due to general wear & tear, same as brake pads etc. :(

  • Author

Cheers Paul - did that on Sunday and it would seem to be covered...although at present, I am not convinced that it is the clutch as it does seem remarkably odd just to die like that, with no noise or clunking or notice whatsoever.

But thanks. :D

The RPS is a great clutch, so was my previous cyclone 3.5.

Many people including myself have found the Cyclone to be c**p.

Try a search on twinturbo.net.

Jez.

if its gone suddenly, the friction material or cover has prob broken up as opposed to just wearing out.

  • Author

Marble-luss...the cover at £177 + VAT or whatever it was that would have to be on Back Order from Japan... Thooper. :D

Still...that's another thing....ONLY £177....for a Zed part....I'm shocked...that's the same price as a headlight bulb! ;)

is that from nelson ajay??

there are other aftermarket clutches you could use, inc better uprated ones

ps is that just for the cover?? you also need the centre plate & release bearing

  • Author

Yes, that price is from Nelson. The other parts were...£40 odd and £19.60 for the whole shebang, IIRC.

Am wondering about an uprated clutch and whether to purchase it and get Nelson to fit it, as I seriously don't have the time or inclination, TBH, or whether to try to get Nelson to order in a different one....
