Since our AGM at last year's JAE, the committee has been reviewing the club's policy on the issue of permanent bans to errant members.

 

Having carefully considered the policy, we are united in the opinion that the notion of a permanet ban from the club is an absolute last resort; and one course of action reserved for when nothing else is appropriate in the circumstances. Hence we have decided to retain the notion of a permanent ban where the action is in the best interests of the club and its membership; as there are already finite bans in place with fixed terms - eg. of 1 week, 1 month, 1 year etc etc.

 

However we have all agreed that even if a permanent ban has been issued, sometimes some people deserve a second chance. Consequently anyone issued with a permanent ban (past or present) will now be permitted to apply to the committee for their return to the forum after a period of 12 months from the issue of their ban.

 

It's a bit like parole - one applies to return, the committee takes a vote and lets him or her know. If the application is successful, then the former banned member is permitted back onto the forum on a probationery period of 6 months. Conversely if a person's application is denied; they remain banned - although they are still eligible to apply to have their ban overturned in another 12 months. And so on.....

 

The present system of appealing against a permanet ban still remains the same - once a member is permanently banned from the club, they have the usual 7 day period to appeal against the committee's decision. As said, a permanent ban is always a last resort; we do not like having to take such drastic action against our members unless we are faced with no alternative option. And whilst the permanent ban does remain in place (when necessary), we are willing to reconsider each individual situation at some point in the future!

people have to remember that we dont go banning for fun, its why we have many comittee and mods, its discussed and voted on and is a very last resort, first a three day then a full if needs be, its the rules that a 3 day banned person musnt re-register under a different name otherwise they will be banned indefinbatly, a lot do this and we still dont ban them even though we know

 

just a pity some people take things further, there is another forum and unfortunatly its like a soap box for the banned and a lot of name calling and insults result and make things worse which is a shame as it hinders any kind of appeal to our comittee and some say we should be partial but its very hard not to become personal when you read some of the comments

It is a shame that some have to overstep the mark, and get themselves a permenant ban, but like has been said, we don't just ban people for the sake of it, there is a procedure that is followed to the letter by both mods and committee, but the person being banned has had warnings but not taken heed of them. In these cases they only have themselves to blame.

If its possible to get unbanned does that mean i can have my infraction removed ?

LOL - an infraction has a finite lifespan; a week, a month etc etc. If Allan says it has expired, assuming he has checked and is not just sweet talking you (we still have those pics of you in suspenders:lol:), then you are already "uninfracted" mate!!

I for one found si amusing, everyone knew what his comments would be before he even posted them as normally it would be that he didn't like what a certain person had done with their car etc, a few times he would ridicule myself for having pink accessories lol I also remember members that are still actively posting who would cause rows and were a bit unruly but have since grown up and become quite responsible so people can change.
