unable to boost or hold boost

Noz has set up my car and at a boost of 1.1 Bar (15ish psi) but he was unable to get the PE1420s to boost anymore than this....his thoughts are wastegate issues ...the tubs are good for a lot more than 15 psi ....he has fitted one of his own boost controllers ...any ideas ..no apparent boost leaks etc ??

    does sound like wastgate related if u have no boost leaks ..

     

    assuming you have done a Leak/pressure test on the system?

    What was the spool up like?

    I've read from years ago issues with pe1420 wastegate flap catching on the downpipe so doesn't close properly impacting peak boost and spool

    Doesn't the waste gate open and close the other way up to the garetts. Ie hinged at the bottom. This causes them to catch on the down pipe.

    thansk for that guys i will look at that and see if that is what is happening ..they do spool up very well around 2.3k revs and pull very very hard the engine power is more than enough for me at the moment anyway to be honest, but i was surprised that only 1.1 bar pressure could be made. they are sitting on Mike Smith manifolds with a custom exhaust that Jeff had one of his associates make up for me with race cats welded in....

    What actuators are you using? Could be weak or set up wrong. But I have also heard about the penny catching with the pe turbo's

    Have u got dump valves, I had a problem where I couldn't get over 13psi. In the end I gave up trying to find the problem.

    Then one day took my blitz dump valves off.

    went for a drive down the rd and the bugger hit stupid pressure.

    must of been leaking inside the system.

    Hi Terry no mate no dump valves fitted , it seems i have to get busy with the lump hammer when im home again :) .......

    Even the standard recircs could leak and give u low boost.

    Hammer is the best tool invented for stubborn zeds.

    make it wish it never....lol....
