Well I'm working in Lincoln today and whilst enjoying my drive through the countryside (beats driving in Manchester) I couldn't believe it when I saw a sign saying "toll bridge ahead" 36p to move 3metres ??? It seems we can't escape being shafted anywhere.

Has anyone else encountered something similar as I wasn't expecting that one lol

Took my niece on a horse riding holiday in Wales a few times and there's one there. 50p to cross over a little bridge. One year my sisters boyfriend drove and tried to save the 50p by going another way ( cheapskate! ) we followed the satnav for miles and eventually finished up down a one lane cart track. Cost him a fortune in petrol and his car was covered in cow poo!!

Was that Dunham Bridge then? I used to live near there.

I am in Lincolnshire near Wragby.

I'm at a new power station in Whisby if that's the area.

 That will be Dunham Bridge, it is actually privately owned and run as a business.

Dunham Bridge as mick 1 says. I've been using it for years and it's worth every penny when you consider the fuel cost of following the free route.

36p?!! Try £6.20 every Thursday night across the severn! at 36p i can understand token maintenence...£6.20 a week for 3 years, just to get home is a PITA!

In Fairness id say the Severn bridge is more than 17X bigger so its probably cheaper per metre..... Does make me laugh though that you have to pay to get into wales but not to leave. Maybe if we applied that technology to the whole of the Uk there would be less people in it, jokes.

Is a bit random as pikey as I am I did try avoiding on the route back but some how the guy was there smiling as a searched through my twos and ones.

Hell - it's human nature to avoid such charges mate...... But one really needs to weigh up the options of driving round for miles to avoid these routes; it's often better to pay and go. Unless you have no money on you for the crossing - which, let's be honest, sometimes we just don't!!!

Lincoln is a lovely city though; especially round the castle. Julia and I spent a long weekend there one December a few years back...:thumbup1:

Richard:shaun:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You should all move up here.....our Government abolished all the bridge tolls. Now just waiting on them de-restricting the motorways, that would be an independance vote winner :) for me anyway

Warbuton Bridge, over the Manchester Ship Canal just outside of Warrington.

It's something like 10p each way, but 25p return......figure that one out if u can!
