What is going on?

 

I thought that with the upgrade of the forum things would go from strength to strength but I have to say it's gone backwards!

 

At least on the old setup there were loads of fights, fall outs, pics and funny posts that kept it interesting.

 

Since we moved over I have to say IMHO it's gone sour!

 

No more hilarious threads, no more daft pics and to be perfectly honest a loss of posts from hardcore members it's nothing short of fcuking sh1te!!!

 

New forum has been up and running now for a few weeks and it strikes me that it's going downhill sharpish.

 

Die hard techies are propping the whole thing up with boring tech talk but the whole life of our forum seems to evade me big time.

 

Even makes me feel like getting shot to be honest!

 

I loved and kept going with my car for one reason and one reason only...this place!

 

Once the spark and character leaves here I get shot and leave!

 

Maybe that's what some people want? But I put it to you that I haven't posted that much lately so the lack of character that was our forum has fcuk all to do with me!

 

Boring...boring...boring!

 

Disappointed and gutted at the lack of interest and to be honest it's highlighting what I strived to proove!

 

Yeah you can talk tech all day long but what this forum and the members was all about was having a laugh!

gotta admit, its not as funny as it used to be. i suppose we still gotta give it time tho? are we gonna have the ability to post pics in the future? obviously a lot of work has gone into this place & it would be a shame to see the likes of you leaving timbo:( brings a tear to my eye!

however, when it was "open" and anyone could post, and everyone was fighting.... i got sick of all the emails and msn's from people complaining about other people, what they said, what they did, being abusive

 

and i got it from quite a few people...

i have been away this week, so not much chance to keep up on the forum, and the same again next week

 

so why not open some voting and poll posts, in whatever area, and decide between you all how you want the site to go.

 

bearing in mind, that quite a few people have contributed towards getting the site together onto a new platform

 

i will check in on the results when i get back next week.

Im not so sure its that, bad, when the first one came up, it took a while to get of the ground, and i suppose its how you look at it.

i like it as all i really want to come on and talk about is cars, and what i can do with my car ect, as that is what the forum is about.

So i like it the way it is.

I found arguing and fighting more aggrevating than anything else,(because i always managed to draw myself into it lol) but i say give it some time.

Also remember the forum lost far more proper members the way it went than it gained in the way of Morons ect...

Sorry Tim, have to disagree with you there.

 

The fights and the fallouts were the worst thing about the old forum. Sad, sick, pointless and very off-putting.

 

In general I agree with Warren (Jeez, I never thought I'd ever say that ;) ) the foul-mouthed childishness got rid of more peeps and attracted more morons. Shame, really.

 

Still, if people want to have a playpit on this form, I have no objection but please don't drag warped grievances, sick photographs and personal vendettas into the rest of it.

 

Or if there is a large enough group of argumentative foul-mouthed fight-pickers, there are also plenty of free bulleting board services - why not start your own. Then we can come onto your board and whinge about how we don't like it.

Personally, I think the forum(s) have undergone a massive change for the better. I'd hate to see it return to how it was before the changeover.

 

I was a bit surprised to read your post actually, Timmy. I thought you were enjoying it here lately.

IMHO No one should be allowed to post until they have paid their £20. Pissed off with tight arse people saying can we read the for sale section etc etc.

You pay £20 and with that money you can save £££££££££££s on buying,also tec advice is well worth £20 alone!

I think Iain said the last count of paid up members was around the 70 mark.

 

NO I don't think you should be allowed to reap the benefits of being able to see the For Sale & Wanted section unless you've coughed up. FFS this place saves ALL of us big time in the long run be it through technical advice and cheap parts.

Not blowing sunshine up my own ar5e here but when I saw the thread for membership months ago I stumped up 30 squids without blinking an eye. Yeah I have asked Craig to add me Mrs Turbo to that as a result but I can honestly say I would have chumped up more than that if the need arose. Which is why I am sorry that Glen has left!

 

Individual members bunging in such open offers of help and then all the others who are not prepared to contribute makes me think why?

No probs Timmy, couldn't agree with you more on this post (except one bit). Just 2 points for the discussion:

 

a) as we all get used to the new home I hope it will get less quiet! There are some unmoderated forums and some moderated ones so with a spot of luck things will their own level in time.

 

2) Somone posted recently about letting non-members post in more of the forums. You and Mac1 are right when you say why should people who haven't paid get any benefit. OTOH how can we attract more members if we don't let people try before they buy?

 

Not pretending to have any answers but I wouldn't have any problems if we wanted to open one or two more forums to non-payers in order to get a lot of traffic through and get more paying customers.

 

It's a tough problem.

 

Hey - TT Tim or whoever how about supplying a few stickers (small ones with the forum logo and http://www.300zx.co.uk) as freebies for people who do cough up for membership?.

Can non-subscribed punters read the For Sale section ? I agree that only subscribed people should be able to post there.

I think that people should be able to post and read the for sale section without subscribing, this might stop people who only have one or two items or a car for sale, posting and stop us getting the bargains.

 

Its £15 to put an ad in the Autotrader site, if we charge £20 for subs, they will probably put their luverley zeds in the cheaper site!

 

Sure we've paid twenty quid, but if we restrict the forum too much it could fade away to resemble the ghost town that is known as the Z club!

 

If we return to zero subs we could return to the one flew over the cuckoos nest scenario!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the reason a lot of us so called tight arses want to be able to post in the sale and wanted forum is to be able to reply when peeps like tim who r in need of bits and ask then tight wads like me can reply to say he can have said bits eg ariel or whatever other z bits i have going spare and not for cash either i might add before the hoardes of babylon begin to accuse me of using this site for nothing more than monetry gain............£20 or whatever it is might not seem much to some of you but where i live in the real world its plenty and ive never yet in all my years paid to view or reply on a website so rather than get slagged and called a tight wad i say my farewell now to the forum and chat to peeps via e-mail in future because frankly its less hassle and you dont have interferring know it alls butting in

Timmy, here what yer saying me little batfink and yes it does appear to be a bit slow , BUT from what i can see, this new layout has shed loads more forums available than before, a quick tally of the number of threads and replies compared to the old system, i would say we are not far off the same mark, it's just with all the extra forums you can't quite see it, maybe Craig is able to confirm that. I would expect in the transition to see a small drop in numbers, simply cos of those who ain't paid, so really i think that's all it is, given a bit of time i think what we have become used to, will slowly come back, though it may not appear so at first glance with so many area's to post now.

Anyways i rely on you for the looney tune stuff :D
