Does everyone else spend 10mins filling up the ZX with petrol, as the pump constantly cuts out if you give it full whack?

Dont mind in the summer but now its winter...:)

Yeah, it's a real pain in the ass. I have devised the method of holding the nozzle slightly out ou the tank & at an angle, works fine until the petrol squirts all over your shoes. Then again I never have enough money to put that much petrol in :(

Put the nozzle in almost upside down so the fuel trigger is pointing roughly between 1 and 2 o clock, Shouldnt click off till full then.

Your lucky, I waste about 50 hours a week in petrol stations, but then again, I work in one!

now that happens to me all the time, i didnt want to say anything coz i thought it was just me , lmao im glad it happens to others now lol :)

Switched to Optimax recently and the local Shell pumps seem quite Z-friendly :) The Tesco pumps I used to use were real bastards.

Maybe performance cars share similar fuel tank neck designs, and Shell shaped the Optimax nozzles with that in mind? :D

Saying about Optimax...

..not quite the same thing but, our local Sainsburys had a recent overhall of their petrol station and blow me if they haven't now got Super on tap, and it's always the free pump!

So with 5p off per litre after a weekly shop it's a good price too.

The Zed definately prefers it, although the zed doesn't need filling up quite as often since I bought another car :D

Tim

i find it with different petrol pumps? must be me.

I have the best fuel economy on this forum period :D

about 3 tanks of petrol this year :D:(

I use the 11 o'clock nozzle position. I found Shell pumps always used to cut out before the switch to Optimax.

If you don't put the nozzle in all the way, it cuts out less, I've found. Never had to hold it at an angle, while balancing on foot, humming the Russian National Anthem in Portugese, though... :D

Warren...I may be able to beat you on that. :D ;) I've only filled the Zed up about twice this year... Damn...I should use it more... The company car is just too available. :)

Anita.

I have spent so long trying to get petrol in the punp timed off when i only had £11 in

It was a Tesco one. So not going there again.

I tend to find some places are worse than others. Tesco are bad, Shell are strange, sometimes is on off all the time and sometimes it puts £40 in before it plays up.

I think Esso are the ones I have had less problem with.

I would love to think what people are thinking when they see us putting the petrol in and it keeps stopping. They are probably thinging. DERRR ITS FULL!!!! :D

Stuart

Nah...they're probably spilling petrol all over their shoes while drooling over our Zeds... ;) ;) ;)

Yup, it takes a little longer, is a bit more fiddly, cut-out varies incredibly from pump to pump let alone garage to garage.

If it's cold I wear a coat.:p

Yeah! is that the most ANNOYING thing EVER????????

you just know people are thinking "look at that idiot-trying to fill up his already full petrol tank"

my Z loves OPTIMAX! anyone tried those octane boosters?

I used to have this problem before, only cure is to fit the wide arch kit,as it alters the fuel neck to an alloy funnel:D.

I have to agree with JayPSC ... I used to get "quite" irate with the damn thing cutting out and even ended up getting ridiculously small quantities of petrol at times of extreme frustration.

But, I've also adopted the "hold it just inside the hole" method (ooh err) ... this seems to stop it clicking-off, plus I've never once got petrol drenched shoes. But then again, once I get to 50-ish litres, I start to slow right down (usually praying for it to stop soon!).

BTW, is there a marked improvement with Super Unleaded? And, can it be used in any Z, even if it's not had any mods done? Sorry if this sounds like a daft question, but I've never tried it.

CheerZ,

John.

Super is MUCH better than standard unleaded, but (sorry to jump on the band-waggon) Optimax is the tits! You WILL notice the difference.

Octane boosters?..........hmmmmmm, tried a couple but not really noticed anything much. Optimax is the way to go. (No, I don't work for Shell, and I'm NOT having an affair with NelsonMainfella!)

Oops, just did a search on Optimax, and realised I may have unleashed a "auto-v-manual" style, can of worms here!

Aplogies in advance, but I'm gonna give it a go anyway ... just to see. Mine's a stock UK, BTW, so it'll be interesting to see what it feels like.

CheerZ,

John.

:)

not sure on a stock car you will notice a difference with Optimax, i can only speak from having a JAP (Not derogitory) ECU, but i notice a marked difference with Optimax.

I wont use anything else.

And believe me im about the last person who is having an affair with Nelson ......... Mandela :D
