So as we are all here , and own at least one 300ZX , its fair to assume we appreciate the effort put in by the designers of the car.

But lets imagine you were sitting over the designers shoulder as the final draft was just done.

He asked you what is the one thing you would change about the car from a design standpoint.

Be it bodystyling , performance , ease of maintenance etc.

Pick one thing you would change about the car.

For me , it occurred to me last night.

I usually have the car parked in the garage where its out of sight for 6 days a week , but last night i had it parked it outside the house on the driveway.

As i was outside for a quiet cigarette i ended up eyeing the car over and it struck me that whilst the front arches are nice and pronounced , the rears are rather tame. I think the rear axle could have been extended by a couple of inches and the arches made more ....sexy !

Its something they definitely addressed with the 350Z , as it has big muscular arches over both axles.

So whats the one thing you would have changed ??

As a car designer myself, I think its a little unacceptable to allow water to pool at the rear screen lower corners.... This should have been strongly argued with the Style department during the development.

The weatherstrip seals are poorly designed all round, definitely not up to todays design standards.

For the modern era, we could have done without the stone-chip, but that was a decision taken at the time.

And an adjustable steering wheel is most definitely up there!

I have noticed how water can pool up at the corners of the bottom of the rear screen when I have washed the zed so a good tip is to open your tailgate for 10 mins and all the water should drain of.

If anything i would of changed the engine to a twin turbo v8. Seeing as the zx is a grand tourer and not a sport racer a v8 would of been a good choice. Plus it would sound loads better.

either..

when the windows are down, the black part with the stooppid looking slot that is left showing. ..sooooo ugly. Rubbish!

or what everyone else basically says.. more room around the engine. so things(something/anything/please) can be unbolted.

They did plan at one point to make it a na v8 however a twin turbo v8 would have been amazing only problem is they were limited to 280hp by the Japanese agreement it was hard enough to restrain our own v6 tt to 280 let alone a v8 tt lol

The huge fat lump of a door piece that (on some Zeds) holds the seatbelt. The whole idea of frameless windows is nice smooth running cean lines. they're supposed to look nice with the door open, not confusing to passers by.

Also, looking at the whole Zed series it would seem the Z32s are the only ones without 2/3 small dials to the top of the centre console. It's like a classic Zed trait that skipped a generation.

Oh the door sail, lol I see what you mean, I think its required to keep rigidity. The gauge thing, hrm id never thought about that before.
