I've been trying to move a bolt that's been stuck for many years as JeffTT said previously to try tightening an Allen key bolt with a nut round it. I just cannot move the dam nut.

Any ideas on the best way to move it?

pmsl, listen footmunch, this fecker is like the sword and the stone. It's proper stuck.

The maintenance dude at work is gonna have a crack at it as he has a vice

OMG......you don't have a vice  how on earth do you get through life .

well i told him im back at work next week, i have a vice, numerous plumbing tools designed to remove tight bolts and a blow torch and cutting tools, but he didnt want to take me up on my offer so now im recinding it and will watch and laugh at this thread as he struggles on

i wouldnt heat either or maybe just a tad incase its been glued on with locktite, probably get in in a vice secured and just use grips to thighten it, what you have to be carefull with is not to sqaush the nut while trying to remove, this will make it harder to remove, stlilsons will do this

the nut in question is just an adjuster, just cut the bloody thing off and replace with a suitable one, i had the same dumb valves, removing the nut doesnt do anything to them apart from remove the nut from the top and leave them fully adjusted. what ever gave you the idea that if you remove it, its going to bork the BOV?

Is the nut Steel and the top of the BOV aluminium? If it is, it's probably reacted a bit and sort of welded itself to the bov. Cut the bugger off with a bit of hacksaw blade and take your time. once you've cut a slot the nut will be much easier to get off.

This is why half tonn T-rex,s the king of the earth all died...they could,nt work out how to crack a cockel open when the sea level rose:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Update:

So had a few people trying, and it still wouldn't budge... Even in a vice.

So, I've cut a slot with a hacksaw blade and then taken out a chisel and hit the bugger. Then mole grips worked lol.

I've not even tried the other one yet lol
