Half of what it should be?? But mate, you're faster than 91% of the population at 56meg download speed!! Hell, I'd be happy with that......

......unless I was paying specifically for 100 meg+

But then I'm no IT techie so I know nothing Dave!!

That's the reason mate, I'm paying for 100Mbps and have never even come close. BT have done extensive research and can't work out why it won't go faster. This was on a good day, it's normally nearer 40Mbps. It's still fast though, so I'm happy enough with it..:)

my connection is abviosly at work and is used for a call centre, we connect to our isp via fibre optic cable and there head data centre is actually only 500m away.

the actual connection from us to them is a full 1000 Mbps but we pay for a 100 Mbps line.

the funny thing is I know there equipment used can't do bandwidth throttling on fibre so when no one else is using there business side internet we get it all more or less.

That certainly does suck, Sky Broadband again like mine WAS, as from 18th June I have signed up with fibre optic infinity from BT and am promised 40 mega doolies which will be 60 times faster than I'm getting now from Sky !!

That's why I am slow with this thread as I've been waiting for it to load up .

I am also no worse off penny wise and I get that BT Sport TV package so win win and win again for me .

Top Tip dont keep resetting your router as it can take up to 10 day to get back to full speed, also if your provider keeps seeing that you keep resetting they will lower you speed because they think your line cant handle the speed.

What do Sky call 'full speed' - 1 meg would of been nice :clown:.

Been with them two years and never got near it.

I had been thinking of asking them if I could have their quicker option.......dial up !!

But the anticipation......

On a quiet Monday lunchtime I get a full meg more than in post 3, still pretty poor and embarrassing with Sky.........ah well, a week to go until my BT Infinity is installed :thumbup1:.

Apparently, BT have run fibre optic from the exchange to the local boxes you see on the pavements and then it connects with the old copper phone wires into your home so not far to travel with the old stuff .
