Revolution sensor

Hi guys,

Ok, I've been having problems with the auto-box and the speedo on my TT. Intermittent speedo and intermitent flashing power light. So I've just been underneath and done the speed sensor fix, took it round the carpark and it seems to have worked. Then I did the auto diagnotic and its throwing up "open or shorted revolution sensor" can anyone help me with what to do now????

Erm..... I'm actually sitting by the car now, so if anyone can answer straight away that would be hugely appreciated. :begging

Thanks

I wish mate, eventually. But first Ive got interior to finish. Then exterior rust spots and that doesnt include the fun surprises that it likes to give me every other week. Never mind stops me getting bored, hey?

Revolution sensor is fitted on the outside of the gearbox at the rear on the passenger side, quite high up though, the cable for it is part of the main loom from the gearbox to the three connectors on the drivers inner wing, you could test it from this point, worth checking the on line workshop manual electrical circuit section.

Thanks for your help Jeff, I'll try to get that tested tomorrow. I am right in thinking its one of the connector blocks by the hicas unit?

After doing some research I'm now not sure if I've got the "all clear" code or the "open or shorted revolution sensor" code. The code I was given was 1 long flash followed by 10 short flashes.

Is the long flash the signal for the beginning of the code or is it the beginning of the actual code?? Does that make sense?

The first long flash is the sequence start signal so the 10 flashes after is the code, be aware code 10 can be caused by a prior low or flat battery.

Sorry Jeff, I dont understand. Code 10 means no problems found, doesnt it? I have recently had a flat battery.

Sorry my mistake, got confused, I thought you meant the 10th flash was different and hence code 10 I take it you mean 10 equal length flashes after the first sequence start long one, so as you thought you have a clear no fault result there.
