Well its been little over a year and a bit since we made the massive leap of faith and upgraded the forums to version 4 of vbulletin.

 

Since then there was a whole lot of "congratulations", "well done" and aswell as a few "i don't like it, why change it" from a few older members.

 

For the first time in many years on the 11th February 2012 i took the forums completely offline for its full overhaul and upgrade and roughly two

and a half hours later the upgrade was complete and we were back with a fresh new design and logo thanks to the work of Mr Shin Yoshikawa.

 

Time flies when things are so good and i'm just wondering from all those people who were active prior to February 11th 2012 -

 

1.) How do you feel the clubs forums are now compared to over a year or so ago ?

2.) can you even remember what it was like ?

Like anything new it takes time to adjust and i can only vaguely remember the old forum lol

I started using forum runner so I'm not 100% sure what the new ones look like! :-)

Well I've just come back to it in it's new form, and it's taken me a little bit to get used to but I'm finding my way around. Since leaving though I've come across this format on other sites so it's not entierly new to me, but I do still remember the old layout because it's also still used on some other forums.

I like the new one, I can't find certain things, like the Edit button or how to search for an individuals Garage page but then I'm sure that's because I'm not subscribed anymore!

oh - hang on. I got a top score in pool & the hi scores dont save anymore. Its the first time I have got a hi score so dont like that bit!! :lol:

I think we have all got used to it now :)

 

However one thing I have noticed of late, the very top left of the screen there is a "forum" button just below the 300zx banner logo. I used to be able to click on that and it would take me to the home page of the forum, i've since found the little house icon just below which does the same job but when driving on a phone it can be a bit awkward to hit that.

 

Now that Forum button just drops down "reo discussions" is it just me that gets that or for everyone? It would be better if the button worked as it did before, for me anyway! :)

Same here, I remember liking the updated sharper look but found navigating the site a tad annoying to start with but didn't give it another thought from a week or so after the change. Can't believe that was over a year ago!

New version is decent, but terrible search engine. The worst I have used on any forum and one of the reasons I use the site a lot less than I used to.

I don't remember the old version as i was still quite new to it when it was changed. I do agree with Yowser about the search engine UT cash be hare work finding something specific.

The sub menu only shows to folks who are part of that group .

That's because you haven't sorted it chum.

 

Go to settings and edit your signature, you will need to have a pic uploaded to photobucket and have the size correct for it to work so you'll have to crop it down nice and narrow like mine.

 

You need then to copy and paste the IMG photobucket link and wrap it either side like below and it'll show up correctly and do this in your edit signature box just as if you were typing a post.

 

 

As above, few weeks back we implemented size restrictions on signature strips as they were kinda getting out of hand and a tad extreme !

 

Likely your sig was deemed larger than the new restrictions.

I do aggree on that and never been able to work it out, i think the new version restricts on the minium lenght of characters used per word.

 

I'll have a look about see if theres a way to change its again.

I can - just - but then I can vividly remember the old, very simple, red and white 'site we had when I first joined 10 years ago this summer......

 

........them were t'days......:lol:

 

I instantly liked the look of the new forum when it arrived last year; although being the dinosaur I am, I did find it hard to adapt to the admin functions on the new version at first. But that's history now as it's all second nature once more - onwards and upwards I say; things are definitely a lot better than before.

 

So a year on, I echo my thoughts of early 2012, nice work Lee - what would we do without you mate!!!
