Got these a few months ago & finally got round to working on them. As you can see on the before and after pics they've polished up pretty nice. Took a while to split them though as some of the bolts were seized. Used a whole can of wd40 to soak them in but had to grind about 10 of them off. Gona polish the lips up a bit more and spray the middle black. Think they will look good in the end.

Might buy all new stainless steel bolts as it would take me ages to polish up every single one, will stand out loads against the black wheel too.

Why's that mate? Not strong enough?

Why's that mate? Not strong enough?

keeping it simple they are to strong so theres no give the shock and vibration on them can then cause them to fail and break. which could be lethal as you can imagine

I didn't think of that. Might make the effort to polish the old ones and put them back on.

Just read that you shouldn't reuse the old bolts once they've been removed. Anyone know if this is right?

no not really same problems as mentioned before bolts have sheer strengths if they are seized in a bit you will use well over there. torque capasity undoing them possibly twisting them and weakening them you put them on again retorque and might snap if they dont you think great untill fail on the car as they were already damaged but you cant see the damage

Thanks mate that's a great help. I'll get some new chrome ones just incase. When I'm putting them back on shall I just do them up hand tight with a socket spanner or do they need to be a certain torque?

to the specfic torque. set by the brand who makes them

Be worth getting yourself a finishing tap aswel, and some wd40 clean all the crap out the threads, this will ensure your torque settings are correct, as if they're all crudded up inside it could snag and effect your reading. good luck.

I'll do that, gonna do this properly so I don't have to do it again. The new nuts & bolts cost £130 so don't want to have to replace them again.
