  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Drove the little bitch today! First time in nearly a month! Faultless and powerful!

Looking good Si....

I drove mine yesterday for the first time since buying the new Merc 3 weeks ago - and I'm pleased to say it's still great...

I left it in the garage today; but as it's set to be a nice day tomorrow, the ZX is coming on a day out somewhere...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I started mine for the first time in about 3 weeks, even if it was just to shuffle it off the garden and onto the driveway so I could mow...

However the rest of the month and into July will see me spending many hours on the zed getting it modified and ready for the shows, and hopefully it's gonna look a bit awesome.. :)

After a winter of no use I thought my seats looked a little unfed today .

First I applied some black wax and this went into all the faded creases, then I polished.

Then I applied some simoniz leather care, this is a thick pleasantly smelling cream and goes on real easy and satisfying, then a buff up and all is good again in the world :thumbup1:.

Looking great guys :thumbup1: 2000 posts:thumbup1:

Started sanding the paint back at 9 o'clock with 1200 then 1500 wet and dry, just finished washing it just got too get out in the morning with the cutting compound wax and polish too bring the shine back

Thanks Richard.

Pleased with the new Merc then?

Oh yes - I can't believe what an improvement it is over the last one....... And whilst it might "probably" be the best car I have owned to date, it is an inescapable fact that a certain 20 year old blue Nissan is still capable of giving it a run for its money:wink:

Hence we took the ZX out for a blast through The Chilterns to Claydon House today:biggrin:

Fitted new front discs and pads today, cant believe how worn the old one were:whistling: rear brakes to do tomorrow and start the rub down ready for the bodyshop :thumbup1:

Thanks Andrew and Derek and wish it was ours but we are renting it as it would cost well over a million to buy. Its very retro seventies but we have permission to update and have already put wooded floors down on all downstairs rooms so its been a busy four weeks for me.The double garage is full of boxes and furniture so I need it emptied soon.

Mmmm. Scraped a pass.

Advisories...

Leaking rear shocks.

Corroded brake lines.

Corroded through front cross member. (fail next year if not remedied)

As a mate has just said, a pass is a pass I suppose.

Bought some Series 2 seats and a couple of T3 turbo manifold flanges.

I did drive it today and had a right wrestle in the wet after this heat we have had. I left a 40 zone in third and applied 3mm of throttle (2mm too much) and the car sneezed ! I would love to have seen it from the point of view of the oncoming Merc because within half a second the car shook it's hips and I got turbo flutter and a pair of fireballs. It revs like a flymo hedge strimmer these days, realising that I was driving with a grip level that is more commonly associated with snow, I very carefully cracked the throttle again around a long radius bend, with the steering wheel dead straight and the normal hasty prayer of "I-hope-I'm-as-good-as-I-think-I-am!" :sweatdrop: I managed to keep just the inside wheel spinning about +3mph for 100m praying that I had correctly judged the bite point of my viscous and that it wasn't about to take the other wheel with it haha!

Anyway, that's not what I was going to say, I have worked out how I am getting to TOTB.

I come off a 24 hour shift on the Saturday morning of TOTB. I was going to just hammer down for the sunday but the car could do with a Noz map on the Saturday.

So, the plan is to get the car to my cousin in Bishop Auckland some time before hand and get a train back to work. Then he will drive down to get it mapped on the Saturday at the same time that I leave work and get on my ZX10-R and head south. I will meet my ex girlfriend who will drive me the rest of the way in her Mazda 2 to meet Adam and you guys before we all stay in a hotel. Then Race to victory convoy home winner

Gave it a wash for the first time in about 2 months.

General tinkering, replaced power and extinguisher cables, fixed the hazzard switch mount with a lot of glue and checks for the MoT on Friday:scared:

oh, and realised that on my last track day I was only running 4psi boost as the controller was set to low :whistling:

Drove it some 230 miles........

.....Took a trip to Tyntesfield - to the west of Bristol. Had a good day out in the sunshine - and sorry we missed each other Si; maybe next time, my friend:wink:
