  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Today she is getting an oil and filter change, fresh coolant, new oil pressure sensor, bottom end clean up and replacing a few bolts from the transmission to the block....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Hoping the weather holds up today as im planning on trying this new meguiars hybrid ceramic wax out.

Found it whilst at japfest and totally forgot i had bought it, so gonna give the old girl a bath and see how much of a difference it makes.

I will update with the before and after results for those interested in the product.

On another note, can anyone tell me the name (if there is one) of the horrid sticky black gunk that Nissan use to seal the rear lights and the targa rubbers etc?

Im finding that after a jetwashing, there is a small amount of water getting in to my drivers side A pillar.

When i fitted the new seals on the car, i used some silicone on the front targa drain area but it seems the surface was so smooth it just lifted away!

Ive been looking for the black stuff but not had much luck finding it.. so if anyone can help with a name or a source to purchase it, id be grateful of the info..

And finally, the club stand at the museum of power at the end if next month. Can i get final confirmation of those that are definitely going to attend please so the final preperations can be made for the day..

Thanks guys

I think its just called rear light sealer Paul https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-infiniti-nissan-oem-tail-light-sealer-nissan-240sx-300zx-b6553-89965_p_7957.php and be carefull with jet washers as they can do a lot of damage. If you use one dont get to close to the car as it will lift the laquer of the paint and even alloy wheels will lose thire luster.

That Megs stuff is reviewed quite well, use it as a top up to protect your LSP and as a drying aid when washing. I wouldn’t use it on the wet stage as per the instructions as it has too much wastage. Follow the other option; give the car a quick spruce over with the drying towel after washing (you’ll have some fine water streaking) and then use this with a clean cloth to finish off to a nice shine. Don’t use too much though otherwise it’ll leave streaks of its own, and don’t forget you can go wild with it over every surface of the car including rubbers and glass so it’s a quick procedure!

I would use (and have used) roof & gutter sealant on your targas.

I also used roof and gutter seal when I refurbed my rear lights lights last year and have been very happy with the results.

Normally i get upset with oil leaks but this time i was overjoyed the turbo's are finaly primed :tank:

Yup - I will be attending.... With Zed and Julia...

……Duly posted in the event thread!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Well the time has come at last and the interior is now removed from the car and all wrapped up ready to go to Mondo for the full re trim including the roof lining and sun shades ( the last bit is news to Si hope he dosen’t mind haha whoops)

Can’t wait to see it all done, it has been a long time coming but I know the end result will be worth it.

With the interior being done I will hopefully doing sound proofing and swapping the auto for a manual. So going to be a busy few weeks.

  • 2 weeks later...

As for me - I did nothing on my Zed today. Well, I was at work....

…..However on Saturday, I returned from Cornwall, after covering almost 1,000 miles in the Zed last week. Felt good to be using it for holidays once more:cool: I shall post a few pictures once I have downloaded them from my cameras

So on Sunday, I gave the Zed a good wash and wipe over with Auto Finesse Glisten, before popping it back in the garage, out of the rain we have had these last two days.

I also received another package from Z1 yesterday - a nice new fuel dampener and regulator; plus a master cylinder brace. I'll be fitting them this weekend!

Then I must speak to Sir Jimmer, about having the cambelt changed and the AC re-gassed!

Look forward to the pics Richard and nice to see you enjoying the Z again mate.

Today I replaced the fuel dampener and fuel pressure regulator - together with the last little fuel hose on the regulator. Just the fuel hose between the left and right banks to replace now..... When I can be bothered to remove the throttle linkage, that is...

I also fixed the connection to the left hand horn. Again!! It's gone bad twice since I have had the car back; perhaps it's time I re-wired the horns?? I used some grease on the connectors, hopefully it will help repel water!

Didn't get around to the master cylinder brace though:oops:
