  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Ordered some bits in Japan for collection in person. Nothing too exciting, just some brand new early JDM mirror glass. Reason? My driver side one, the plastic has degraded slightly so decided a set of new ones was in order. I just want a Japanese Nissan parts receipt for my service history and to pick the parts up from a Japanese dealership.

Was that seriously 1.5 years ago? Well done, feels good to getting close I bet?

Parked up since August 2016. It does feel good that everything i've done has come together and just worked, no starter fiascos or bad noises, I didnt break any injectotr looms etc that I cut and moved. But also frustrating that I have to wait for parts (NA powersteering bracket and the interior) until I can put it back together and take it for a drive.

Today I wired the rear fog light to the front fog so they all come on with the switch, and put in the split rear chambers I made ages ago, so fogs on the top and reverse on the bottom of the centre light section.

Dont the regs say rear fogs have to be the lowest light on the back of the car?

....Nope!

......You're OK Ali; they need to be something like a minimum height of 250mm and a max of 1000mm from the ground. Either in the centre line or the off-side where just one is fitted; and 100 mm between the light-emitting surfaces of the [stop or rear] lamps.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

you got the diagram how you wired at the front to the switch and into the rear panel mate?

I can explain it...

Run a wire from the front fog (middle wire on the fog plug is live for the fog), through the wing, along the sill on the interior, up behind the rear quarter panel into the boot, and then just wire that to the live of whichever bulb you are using, and the ground to one of the grounds on the rear panel harness.

For years I went with a plate glued to the bracket. It never lasted so ended up with screws and screw covers utilising the original bracket. I kinda like it. Function over form in this case.

You really should also get the correct size rear plate. Doesnt overhang the bumper then.

I'll keep the bolts, looks purposeful. It's what the car would have come with. :)

It does suit i will admit. Because you have the black lugs at the bottom and black screw caps which are correctly spaced it looks correct.

Why is the rear plate bracket such a complex affair? It has a hinge which seems overly engineered for its purpose?

If the hinge wasn't there, you'd have difficulty in removing and refitting the bumper.

I get that, but if the plate was simply attached to the bumper then the whole bracket wouldnt be needed. Same for the front i guess too. Suppose its just another example of cars being made better back then. Not all melted down bottle tops like todays crap.

I think it's more to do with interchangeability between markets. American and Japanese licence plates for example are made of tin, sure they're not heavy, but they bend easily. Having something that gets easily damaged on a bracket might be considered a better design. I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Wheel refurb complete on zeb, well pleased with the results just darkened the ctrs a little compared to how they used to be.

Used a local guy (literally 2 streets from me) who took em off sprayed em and came and refitted them as well. So very impressed with his service.
