  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Well ive have just purchased some new Meister Zeta S coilovers which should be here soon, an acrylic strip (should be here next week) for when I remove the boot spoiler ready for painting and a little plastic grommet for the rear wiper delete. I will post images when I get them...

Well needed a break from the tin rot so decided to tackle the air con pod, bit of fibre glass resin and its good as new

Appreciate the effort but you do know these are only £30 new.....

Finally pulled my finger out and ordered the remainder of my weatherstrips. That's both large ones that go from the bottom of the a-pillar and round the A-pillar apperture and the t-top seals. (I already have the door seals).

Decided not to order this from the US on the basis that I'm saving monies!

Cheapest in the US I could find was $777.08 in total which is £603. Cheaper I hear you say? Well, no, not until you factor in everything else..

£603 total + 20% VAT @ £723.60 + Shipping Est £50 total £773.60

VS £633 from a mail order UK source - saves me £110, not a huge amount on the grand scheme of things, but reason enough not to purchase stateside.

NOW, I could have ordered all those and collected when I'm over next which is in about 3 weeks, but couldn't guarantee they'd be there by the time I arrive and indeed depart. Then there's the deal with potentially getting caught by customs (unlikely, but not worth it) + risk of getting damaged etc.

Appreciate the effort but you do know these are only £30 new.....

i do no that but i was brought up to not throw things away if you can fix them, which i could for maybe a £1 or 2 i no its an alien concept in this day and age

Just at Lee's again today, dropped off his birthday beers and had an oil change, timing done and a check on Conzult. All running good!

Did you get the hicas sorted? Nice slicktop in the background.

Hey guys, I'm just about to try and get round to fitting some of these new trims.. Are there any write ups on doing it?

I have been told that the trims can be and inevitably will be a complete sod to do, but it has to happen before they get damaged in my pit of a workshop..

The over roof mouldings from windscreen to the start of the boot and the window rubbers along the door skin top are being changed..

Any help or information would be gratefully received!

Cheers guys..

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Ye, Lee's locked it out for now. The light didn't come on on the way home but tye motorway wasnt really moving very fast! I'll test it out again over the next few days.

Conzult showed no error codes which is good!

I like your black plenum on your shortie... Looks good!

Yes, treated the Z to a Selin dual MAF intake kit, Tomei 740cc injectors with a JWT adaptor kit and a Wiring Specialties new style injector harness. They'll be going on with a new fuel pressure regulator/damper and an EBC set to 16psi.

It will hopefully make a bit of a change from the current 9psi!

Joel, are your engine internals stock? or have up upgraded them also?

If stock, I would be interested in a similar upgrade.

Jimmer has worked his forged internal magic on my engine! Mine are pretty mild/basic mods on the grand scheme of things, plenty of people with a similar spec on stock internals. What is the current state of tune of yours Dave (eprom, psi, extras etc)?

All stock at present Joel.

The only mod, if you can call it that, is a stainless de cat exhaust system.

Mind you, the bottom end has only covered approximately 22,000 miles, so I am hopeful that it would be comfortable for a mild power upgrade.

I think I'd be inclined to start with a basic 14psi upgrade, you'll probably be surprised at the outcome. Although I'm going from the stock 9psi, it can be deceiving as my GT525 turbos at stock boost produce 365fwhp. This setup has almost maxed out the duty cycle of the stock injectors though which is why I left it at 9psi until this upgrade.

With your stock turbos and injectors, a boost upgrade to 14psi will give you decent performance.

14psi will be very different to what you've had.. Mine is running at 12 currently and the difference from the stock is very noticeable.

It'll bring a grin to your face that's for certain

Thanks Joel, my aspirations are to consider keeping the block as stock, and hopefully add whatever is considered a safe optional upgrade without going overboard. (Subject to budget that is)

Kinda hankering over an early 2000s E55 at present myself.

Why not Steve....? This month's Mercedes Enthusiast magazine billed the W210 (1997-2002) as possibly the best value AMG...

I personally prefer the next shape from 2003 onwards; not sure which one you are hankering over, but any V8 AMG still pretty damned good...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

...also, one of the ugliest cars (front the front anyway) Mercedes has ever built from the era of the Chrysler partnership.

If we're talking 90s Mercedes however, these were always my favourite. The old CE coupe.

Get the bolt as far out as you can, them pull/push the tension rod bush about. The bolt will then clear the pipe and your home free. Yes it's a pain in the ass.
