  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

that's the plan hopefully, i think i may have found material in a similar colour i'm just waiting on samples but thats only a backup plan

Solved my double misfire today, both on the drivers side.

What a fiddly job!

Couldn't pinpoint the cause exactly, just started with checking the injectors and then methodically checking connectors and plugs etc'

Relief when I fired her up and all 6 cylinders were purring again.

Happy days.

Hmmm, sounds like the injector plugs loose possibly red.. Had the same issue, but hopefully it isn't the same outcome.. I ended up losing injectors!

Fingers crossed for you!

Well apart from taking the z down to get filled up and giving her a wash down, I've been preparing for the arrival of another Z tomorrow..

Not the Z you'll be thinking of, but a 1999 kawasaki ZX6-R instead..

As much as I'd love to ride it, however, I have bought it to restore it.

It's in good running order and used daily til now, but it's suffered from a lot of cosmetic surgery over the years.

Guy at work was looking to sell it as a scrap bike, so I figured I'd rescue it from the scrapyard and make it a nice bike again for someone to enjoy.

As can be expected it'll be stripped down to nothing before the frame is shot blasted and coated, then a full respray with some hydro work and nut and bolt rebuild..

The plastics that are there need welding and restoring aswell, but I'll have it looking mint within six months to a year hopefully ready for someone next summer..

Really looking forward to being around a bike again.. It's been two decades since I owned one!

Finally sorted my sound system out... The old speakers were terrible and I had a 12" sub on my back seat to compensate. Well after a trip to Manchester to pick up some replacement speakers from Thomas (max.tk) and swapping my old sub out for one Lee Dent kindly gave me a couple of weeks back it sounds great! Best of all I now have no sub on my back seat as the one Lee gave me fits in the boot and the targas fit still too. Well chuffed;)

Have a good one Pete and bring her home safe mate.

Had a splendid day with Nemiszx aka Paul today. Got stuck into Project X, refurbished the centre console and stereo surround. Got all 4 speakers working nicely, cleaned up the interior and got the seats treated and cleaned, the interior is looking great now. Can't thank Paul enough for his time and resources today, top bloke and a true Zedhead. Onward with Phase 2 now.

I've wasted a LOT of that time! [emoji23]

Yes you have Joel  but if your choice is to spend time detailling etc and ending up in magazines then its OK .

Im home safe...and the car..... and I have had a great day.:thumbup1:

Looking amazing there Gary....

Thanks Rich. I took it for a short drive today and did something I never did before in all my years of Z ownership I drove a 300zx with the targa roof shades off. A new experience but it was very sunny so it would of been better with the shades on or the roof of.

I went to Slick Pete's place to pick up a spoiler, but never mind that.....

Pete kindly offered to take me for a spin in his slicktop.

I thought aye up, this is gonna different from my 2+2 when he advised me to put the full racing harness on.

It has taken me to get halfway back down the M1 to calm down, I kid you not, Pete floored the f@@kin thing straight off his drive.

It was awesome. His car is just awesome. As much as I like the good old OEM look, I now have a deeper understanding of why the Zed is used as a track car, and why the lads spend shiploads getting them there.

I could not stop laughing like a loon and manicaly grinning as this amazing "old" geezer drifted his motor round a traffic island, accelerated like it was on nitrous and braked like shit sticking to a blanket, truly breathtaking. Both Petes driving and the car.

We got back to his gaff and I literally fell out the car a gibbering wreck.

Ohh, he said, pity it's a bank holiday Monday and busy on the roads, I could have really let her rip!!!!

I get it now. Thanks Pete, soon as I sell Purple Haze, I wanna build a track car. If Pete can chuck her round like that at his time of life, there's hope for all of us yet. Inspirational that bloke, a true petrol head in every sense of the word. Thanks mate, the spoiler was great btw.

Yep - come on in - the water's lovely .

this "old" geezer drifted his motor round a traffic island,

Im going to pick up on a minor flaw in your description Chris......just to explain what occurred.

I didnt actually "drift" round that island. "drifting" implies some degree of sliding, skidding and tyre spinning.

When we went round the island I drove it round. I was in control with no loss of traction. You did of course hear the tyres "chirp" in protest but that is normal .

Of course it was all over in a flash and we were then headed back up the bypass having completed the full 180 turn before you realized what was happening.

It was difficult to tell who was having the most fun!!

I know, I'm only kidding, however that was some driving and we were well within the legal boundaries at all times, I think:-) However, I must say the cars performance and your driving skills are to be admired Pete, that's an afternoon "spin out " I'll never forget mate. Cheers man.

I ordered an expensive rear wheel bearing from Nissan dealers.... £175 + vat.... gulp!!!

5 days back order...

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Wow that's steep mate.

That's what I thought, but can't find any others in the UK....... so had to bite the bullet....

There seem to be TT ones, but not many NA ones.... and the ones available are just as expensive....

Zcenter is £183.60 inc delivery...

Nissangenuine online is £159.50 + £8.90 delivery.... never heard of them till last night....
