  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Parts 2013 096 (Large).jpg

Firstly I took all 4 wheels off and fitted spiggot rings that were not fitted before. I then fitted new black diamond discs on the front with yellow stuff pads. Throughout this I have taken every precaution to not warp these brakes, I cleaned the hubs, fitted the rings properly torqued the wheel nuts properly and I am bedding them in absolutely as per the instructions.

Then I made a complete arse of doing switchable HICAS. The plan was simple tell it the fluid was low, but a reading of 0 volts is fluid high, fluid low is 12 V. I proved the theorey onder the bonnet and got the switch working. I then ran a wire from the reservoir across the back of the bay into the passenger foot well, then from there to a switch mounted neatly into the right hand instrument pod. I used a 12V feed from the cigarette lighter and blew loads of fuses. The lighter, the headlights, the sidelights, the dash lights, the radio, my aftermarket gauges...

I then realised I am not an auto-electrician, I am a guy with a multi meter that failed physics and put everything away ready for another day, when I have more fuses and a grasp of V=IR

On a lighter note I then drove it 50 miles with the new raised rear ride height and It handles beautifully, less crashy better suited to real roads, never caught the wheels on the arches. And it is really keen to change direction with its back end in the air and the nose down to dive into corners. It was a joy to now have that, 4 warm and clear speakers rather than 2, brakes that don't shudder at all.

A new oil leak now smokes from the back of the engine! The story continues.

I removed the side skirt to get to the rotten O/S rear sill section..... made a large hole where the rust worms had been eating.....

I found this when the skirt came off....IMG_3801.jpg

I then marked up and cut out as much rust as I could before the wife caught me working on the car and not cleaning the house as promised.....lol

I like angle grinders, they are very therapeutic.....

Start again tomorrow while she is out with the kids.......lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

i have a theory that Mr Nissan though all his Z32,s would of been crashed well before they rotted hence stupid ideas like running water drain tubes into sill sections:wacko:

Fitted the new one piece prop I picked up from Zedworld yesterday, best mod I've done yet!

oh look at that nice propshaft :)

Thanks for sorting it Mark, I'm really pleased with it.

Today I've been mystified by the Zed deciding to run on only 5 cylinders for about 15 minutes! :(

She was fine when I turned the engine off. When I started her up again about half an hour later, only 5 pots were working. The sixth sprang back into life about 15 minutes later.

Bizarre.....

I sold mine today  already regretting it slightly!!

Snap!

i changed all my oils and coolants this morning and went for a spin. it was great :tt2:

Opened the garage door looked at it thought haven't got a minute for you and closed it:-(((

Fitted dynamat to 1/2 the boot ready for the audio system to be built and fitted....... and sliced my finger open on the sound deadening as it is foil backed and very sharp on the edge.....lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

I presented him a new friend ;) ;)
