  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

yeah, have removed the power steering belt, as its not so much a leak as much as the pipe completely snapped.... I actually like it under normal driving, unfortunately low speed, roundabouts and more to the point parallel parking are an issue...

might take you up on that anyway ali, if you want to sell me your na rack down the line it would be a useful spare for a track car regardless,

the only thing that concerns me about using the silver one is I've broken my mobile so if it breaks down I'm in trouble lol...

Hey phoenix, I've got a TT steering rack sitting here on thus breaker going to waste.. If you want it, you're more than welcome to come pull it off mate.. Gratis..

Well, progress report on the git...

Today I've checked the ecu harness, no issues.. All clean connectors and tight. Checked the coil pack and that's all good. Removed the spark plug and checked inside cylinder which is fairly dry for a cylinder that's not firing!

Checked the wiring and pulse on the injector plug again and all good, so it's got to be a faulty injector. I've removed the balance bar and most of the hoses to the plenum ready to continue with removing it at the weekend and swap out the number 6 injector with one of the spares I got back from Lee after having them changed in July.

All I need now is the time and good fortune to get the bugger changed and fingers crossed the problem will be gone.

Whilst the plenum is pulled I'll be fitting new pigtails to the injector and coil pack looms to rule out any bad connection at the plugs.

Hopefully I'll have some good news come Sunday..

Ive been offered help by malak Ali on the Facebook group and whilst I'm waiting for a day that he's available I'm ploughing on myself to see if I can get it done without inconvenience to anyone else.. Just got to fund the plenum gasket etc which I know a sounds stupid as they're pennies, but things really are that tight right now!

As Stephen suggested, I’d ohm test the injector to be sure that’s the cause of the problem. I’d also be tempted to swap the injectors around to see if the misfire moves along with the injector… Perhaps that’s a bit time consuming as you’d need to put everything back to fire it up; however, if money is tight then it might save you spending on something that isn’t the problem… that’s opinion anyway…

On the subject of the plenum gasket, seem to remember them being quite a lot when I needed one asap and ordered from z centre. Just found this after a quick google. Don’t know if anyone has tried one of these before but it looks the part and claims to fit the Z32. On the face of it is also about £15 less than want I paid.

Has the injector been ohm tested?

I had a reading between 011 and 013

I seem to remember 10-14 is 'good' so doesn't seem anything wrong with the injector, but while you're at it replacing the pigtails/loom might be a safe bet to replace everything possible 'just in case'

Full 120 service. Usual deletes and bypasses. Silicone to replace ye olde rubber hoseries. 150 mile blast back to smoggy. Grinning like a cheshire cat.

Lol, you can stare at all the photos then.

Bringing a gopro also

If it is, its by chance.. I was shown various colour cards and picked from then without the codes on the cards :)

well that's the end of my zeds weekend adventure, I have a hole in my oil cooler feed hose.... luckily it developed on the way to work this morning, (1/4 mile from work) noticed the smell so pulled it into the workshop instead of the staff car park (another mile up the road) luckily the huge capacity of my sump meant I was still just on the dipstick, but every time the system pressurizes it sprays a jet of oil all over my engine.... all good fun... had to leave it at work,

Hole in a braided line or split hose? New hose on fixed right... with zeds its never that easy.

OK, progress report number two on the mysterious misfire..

After running tests on just about everything from ecu to plugs and everything checking out, I was at a loss.. However, the first test on the injector showed up that the injector was working fine with 013 ohms reading across the terminals..

As the car had begun firing on six again for a shirt time on Monday, I trusted that the injector wasn't at fault. However I have been out with the meter again today and guess what?? Injector 6 shows no reading at all.

Thus the conclusion is that the injector is fried.

Now, everyone here has been very helpful and offers of help have been greatly appreciated, in fact some offers have actually blown my mind. I'd like to say a public thank you to everyone for your support and kind gestures.

Now, I'm still going to pull the plenum but I'm considering buying a new set of injectors and replacing them all to save this problem happening again in the near future, so can anyone tell me if they have a new set of 370 injectors hiding away somewhere that they'd be prepared to sell for as good a price as possible? Or where I can buy a set of decent quality ones at a good price cos funds as most will be aware are extremely limited for me after recent problems.

If anyone can help me out here, I'd be very grateful.. You might even get a kiss

Today, I met JimboSmythe - the guy who bought Lonezedder's SWB. Very nice chap. We had quite a long chat about various Zed-related things and I made him a (probably horrible) cup of coffee after he came here from Wetherby. :)

Oh, and we discovered I had a fuel leak too!! Loose jubilee clip on the back of the fuel filter, and it was coming out pretty fast. A few turns of a screwdriver and all's well again though. Could've been unpleasant whilst driving though, as it would've ended up on the passenger side turbo!

So make sure to check those fuel line clips, people!! Go and do it now!! :thumbup1:

I've read that the later clips don't work themselves loose as easily - would be worth replacing if they're not too expensive.

That's correct - Nissan fixed the problem later in the Z32 production cycle with spring clips which allow for the contraction

of the pipes with age.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Zed's on its way today. I guess I'll set up a breaking thread so see what parts I won't put into storage.

OK well I decided that for now I'm only going to change injector 6, so following jimmers helpful guide to butchering your plenum, about 20 Dremel s bits later and we're in business..

Anyhow, the good news is that the injector change has been done and...... She's alive

About to take her on the first test run but things are looking and sounding as sweet as ever...

Here's some pics.
