  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Seats are finally back in!

I'd need to see some better pictures of your seats to be able to tell you which material they're trimmed in and whether it's still available or not...

Very bright out so here's the best I can do:

Found a better one from a Japanese ad:

Following on from the random "show plate" I made the other day, I decided to make one for my front plate. It was just another quick mock up but it came out quite well. I think the brush strokes of the silhouette are possibly too thick and the overall size of the Z may also be too big? (For reference it is pretty much a 3/4 size plate)

Thoughts:

I think your first one looked better matey:thumbup1:

I've had the Polish out again today, hoovered her out and cleaned the glass all round. Fitted up the new plenum cover dressings which look very nice.

Been looking around the bay and wondering where to start really.. I've got a red silicone pipe kit for all the smaller hoses and looking to get the large pipework done soon.

I had a chance to get her up on a four post lift on Saturday, looking under the car I found a connector under the passenger side a few inches from the cats.

Does anyone know what it is? I didn't get a picture as I'm stupid like that sometimes, but the connector looks the same as the bulb connectors for the headlights and has a rubber protective cover that looks as if it would fit over the connector and whatever it joined to. The rubber cover is black rubber and is a kind of cup shape.

I also found a little oily substance coming from the small hole in the clutch bell housing.. Anyone know if this is a bad sign? Clutch was replaced about 2 years ago and has only done about 2000 miles.. Any clues anyone?

Yes I agree. I'll stick to those I think [emoji106]

Get yourself a 3D background like this Joel. It will transform the thing.

I did have one of them Juwel backings, quite expensive, but looked great when I first installed it. However, after a few months it started to get overrun with hair algae. Due to the design and all the little nooks and crannies, it was near on impossible to clean fully so it just kept coming back, I ended up doing a 3D backing delete mod eventually.

My SWB went to it's new owner today, now to concentrate on selling some others

Some nice pics there Steve:thumbup:

I had the day off today,so did a bit of chasing up on stuff..

The Pearl / Candy Blue powdercoat paint still hasn't come in, so I told him to do the rocker covers in Fire Engine Red with the water pipes and plenum in Chrome Shadow Silver, they'll be done by Friday.

The wheels are started, so I lit a fire under his ass and they'll be painted and back to be assembled by Friday.

All my parts have arrived at Luke's (Zcentre), ordered up a few extra parts ie. some rocker cover and throttle body gaskets, the whole lot is going out this afternoon, so should be here by Friday.

Been up to the mechanics to have a look at what else I have lying around over his office, can't remember if I posted a pic of these before so I'll fire them up now:biggrin:

This may be a long post..

Over the last 4 days I did a number of things and forgot to post day by day..

Day 1. (This was actually about a week ago but hey ho..) Replaced my Radiator with a "performance" one from ZCentre (the original had a cracked inlet), pretty nice and simple job, had to wait for the ZCentre bracket to come but thanks to Gaz, I got some temporary brackets meaning I could still drive her! Couple days later my bracket came, had to modify it slightly by cutting a section out due to the plastic cover of the fan obstructing it, but it's lovely now!

Day2. This is where the work really started, so I was due an MOT in the week and she failed on 2 things. 1 - not having rear fog lights 2 - a rear ball joint being very tired. So one step at a time i ordered a HICAS eliminator kit and knew I had to wait for that to come so I then wired in some fog lights into my existing 3 piece light system at the rear (used to be 2 of the lights as side lights, now 1 side light 1 fog, on each side) and this all went swimmingly.

Day 3. My kit had arrived so I set about the whole install, first was removing the rear steering rack, some pain to get a couple bolts out but it got done, then I removed the solenoid from the engine bay so that's tidier now! Then I had to get the ball joints out, luckily one was pretty new so slid pretty much right out. The second was a B**** and didn't budge so after about 16 hours of work, cutting, drilling, heating, it popped out! The relief was unreal.

Day 4, I put the HICAS eliminator in and bolted up and sent it for her MOT!

Also just had confirmation she passed!

Sorry for the LONG post but wanted to finally start getting involved on here :) going to start a My Z thread with photos soon!

Sure am! :)

We're planning on heading to the continent later this month, including France - am I going to need one of these contraptions...??
