  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

No, not copying anything really, just sticking to red and gold throughout the car.

I wish I had the cash to have the engine out and do everything I'd like to, but when it's your daily and you're skint 25 days a month, it kinda stops you living the dream lol..

I saw an engine done exactly how Id like to do it, but never gonna afford it.. Not in this life anyway!

I'd love to do this, but I'd flip the scheme, gold plenum etc..

I think this is beautiful.. Had to message the guy and tell him that too..

I'd love one of those AMS timing covers just for peace of mind more than anything else.

You can get one from ams Dutch.. They still sell them. $175 Australian dollars..

I know, but I'm not willing to pay for one!

I started her up and moved her into the close, reversed back onto the driveway a foot to the left and parked again..... lol

Just had to start her and listen to her tick over for 10 minutes to keep me focused on the work needed to get her to Beaulieu...........

Saturday is wheels off, suspension strip, brake rebuild and paint, new Goodridge brake lines and clips, fit the speed bleed nipples, bleed the system, media blast all suspension parts, rust preventative measures and paint, finally put it all Back together with new drop links....

Should only take me a year or two at this rate.....

I just need to decide on what grooved and dimpled discs to get and where to get handbrake shoes from????

Has anyone got any from ebay, or are they all cheap rubbish?

I was looking at 'Conceptua' handbrake shoes and these discs.......

I've been looking at the mintex disc and pad sets and I can say that I've never had any complaints with them in the past. I used them on my previous xtrails and never had any issues.

Obviously they aren't going to last as long as the more expensive stuff but £200 for a full set of grooved and drilled discs and pads isn't exactly breaking the bank as far as these things go is it..

Apes are good too and cheaper than ebc and brembos etc..

What modifications are you going to do to them?

Im going to go through the components to examine whats possible but potentially a Tapered Rebore with accompanying larger diameter brass throttle plate, and either turn down the shaft diameter or half-shaft it with shorter bolts. All in the aim of improving Flow CFM with the stock bodies.

Partially Disassembled the dash (weird driving with dash bare LOL) for the installation of the gauge rings, leds came in, waiting of custom shift knob from 300zxclub.com member Greavas @ leatherwheels.com, etc..

***Hey how to take cluster glass off without cracking to install gauge rings would be helpful..! Hopefully I can pull it back together

Its really easy, use a smallish flat blade screwdriver and with the dash facing you slide the screwdriver in under the tab and lift, thus sliding the plastic tab of the plastic cover towards you out of the tab holder. Get the top ones out first and the bottom literally glide out when using the screwdriver to do the same :thumbup1:

Just back from an early NCT. "Flew through it"! :)

Interestingly, all of the measurements on brakes, suspension and emissions have improved since last year (aside from ovality). The car weighed 40kg less, down to 1,524kg, so that may be it - must be the Japspeed back-boxes and ditching the spare that account for that.

Haha! Yea just seen that!!! Selling for a friend and the muppet said they were Hks! The word japspeed printed on them is a bit of a giveaway really huh? Lol..

OK, question time.. Has anyone here got the late style door cards? If so, any chance of a photo of them so I can see the difference from mine?

Waiting on arrival of the donor Z.. Eta around 5:30pm...

Tools out tomorrow then!

The wife still doesn't know it's coming.. Although I think she suspects something as I cut the grass in the front garden for the first time in two years this morning..

Gonna go dig out my cricket box and the car cover..

Act natural when she comes home and hopefully she won't notice.. :whistling:

Well, she noticed... If looks could kill I'd have been dead many times over..

Anyway, good news Dutch.. I have a set of targa blinds and bags set aside for you all in perfect condition..

The wife has simmered now fortunately lol..

Car is safely covered and ready to be stripped..

So a list of available parts is pending..
