  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

What you need to take in to account though Alic is that failures do happen.. The fan shroud I'm trying to dip today is being a little s#@t! Complex shapes particularly on large parts are an effin nightmare tbh.. So if you are thinking of giving it a go, be prepared to fail a few times mate, it's gonna happen believe me!

I'm on the third attempt in about half hour once I've finished cleaning the last one off with acetone.

Critical timing and angle of the push through the dip are hard to master in an environment that really isn't perfect for something so fiddly.

My advice is if you need a metre to do your parts, buy at least 2!

Cheers,

If i were you doing the fan shroud, i would suggest grinding down all the vertical plastic bits to leave a smooth surface like (I think it was) Dan did, but then again you painted it already so just trial and error i guess.

The problem with the fan shroud and hydrographic film is that the shroud is a very strange shape to cover.

If you look at the shroud, it has two angled sections that completely oppose eachother, so as you pass the shroud through the dip at 30 degrees, the water rushing over the edges of the shroud pulls the film away from the edges of the angled section

Struggling to fit this intercooler, is there a way to fit it without removing the AC pipes as they are in the wayIMG_20160515_194916.jpg

What I did Ali, was gently but firmly try to bend them upwards to as vertical as you can get them.. It fits.. Just..

Cheers, that's what I've done. I also removed the support bracket to the front so it can sit a little further forward.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look, i have an impul bumper so I don't know if there will be any differences or if i will have to cut the bumper :scared:

FYI: They are the pipes to your carbon canister.

Oh, I thought they routed through to the compressor at the front, anyway, I did bend them in the end:

The plan today is to replace my high pressure steering hose & put all the pipes back on.

Then if dry go for a drive

No, not copying anything really, just sticking to red and gold throughout the car.

I wish I had the cash to have the engine out and do everything I'd like to, but when it's your daily and you're skint 25 days a month, it kinda stops you living the dream lol..

I saw an engine done exactly how Id like to do it, but never gonna afford it.. Not in this life anyway!

I'd love to do this, but I'd flip the scheme, gold plenum etc..
