  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Oh, nearly forgot.. I also continued illuminating my interior and added some lighting around the centre console.

Oh then adjusted the headlights on a friends car, did the shopping and cooked dinner.. Phew! Time for a pint and a well deserved chill out!

Can you put up a pic of the centre console in the light also, the red led clocks look well:thumbup1: What have you got in the console??

Yea I'd be interested to see what the red illumination is like, are the dials easy enough to read?

The centre console is a neon wire, the power supply being run from the wiring that illuminates the ash tray, the power to the neon works only when the headlights are switched on.

The dash L.E.D s are easy to fit, they fit as direct replacement to the original bulbs with no adaption required.

The dials read exactly as they do with the original lighting, just in red.. No reduction in illumination. You can have them yellow, green, blue, purple..

I'll get a photo up of the neon in daylight tomorrow.

I fitted my new japspeed adjustable front tension rods today so I can get the alignment done, it needs doing anyway but hopefully it will stop my new wheels rubbing!

I've got loads of spare LEDs if you fancy taking a trip up mate, we can throw a set in on a weekend. Only takes about an hour.

Tempting, thanks for the offer, but I've got a lot of dash out work to do at some point that I was planning to do in one fell swoop but I've got other issues to sort out first!

Excuse the picture quality as they're taken quickly from my phone.

One cheap Double Din surround (insert)from 'flea bay' and a bit of patience filing the edges of the insert to a snug fit so it fits the radio surround.

Made to fit my alpine head unit. Interestingly I also offered this up to my pioneer DD head unit and there is a slight difference in size/profile. Happy that I didn't splash out for a new DD surround to find that there was either a gap or not enough of an opening, and would of meant modifying it anyway.

Glad it wasn't just me being stupid when I did this then as that happened to me, had to cut some away

Yeah, came as a bit of surprise. I wouldn't of been happy spending over £100 only to have to get the files out!

I just got round to getting the daytime picture.

This is what it looks like in the daytime,

I'd originally planned to hide the wire behind the console so it glowed round-the-clock edge but space is very limited there and fitting was going to look a little awkward, however I am planning to order the longer version and extend the wire so there's no gap in the console Base and the wire will also go around the gear stick gaiter too.

If I get really bored and adventurous sometime, I may even light the door cards and all the gaps around the dashboard and glovebox.. Future project? Lol

OK, not sure what the forums rules are about this one but I'm sure someone will jump on me quick enough if there's an issue, hope I'm not treading on any toes either, but ive been chatting to the supplier I got the LED bulbs from and asked if he will do a good deal for DIY LED dash kits for the 300zx.

He has agreed to do a kit and I am negotiating currently to get a really good price on a kit that put together specifically for our cars.

I just wanted to know how much interest there would be for a good quality cheap led upgrade kit for the club members cars.

Show of hands please..

Oh and I best add this, I am not making anything from the sales of these kits, the price you would pay is the price I pay for them.

If you're interested, pm me and I can give you the price as soon as it is fixed.

Good idea, I would be but not yet.

I take it you can do more than one just red?

I guess; as with everything, it'll all depend on the pricing as you can get LED's pretty cheap really.
