would it be better to just save for a few months and try and source a nice low mileage tt engine for my car as the engine i have seems to have alot of problems - also does anyone know were i could source a tt auto engine for a uk spec car as i just wanna get an idea of price etc - the turbos are good on my car so i could reuse them but the rest of it i think is on its way out.

it is however worth while, doing a compression or leak down seeing's as its had a history of overheating and with the cast block and ali heads its easy to warp the heads or blow the hg.

Heh heh - I can relate to that mate!!

Especially as I have OCD and get a bit sensitive about the appearance of my hands - getting them scratched or cut to bvggery does set me off a tad....LOL

Its worth it, ive never been more pleased with a car then i am with this one even though its cutting me to shreads and shes gonna cost me more then a new car to get how i want but then new cars are all the same bloody sqaure boxes with diff badges on and no charecter. My daily driver is a bmw 1 series msport convertible and its just the same as every other bloody bmw on the road. I dont see any 300s round here at all and even the police today stopped off and was amazed at the car even helped me get the rad hoses off

Update so had the car out today and got all the fluids changed

The trans oil looked like it had never been changed it was rotten - so got that sorted with brand new oil and the gear box seems much sweeter now

Then on to the engine took the stop plug out and about half a litre of oiled drained out thats how bad this car had been looked after and no wonder she was over heating. 5ltrs of castrol magnatec soon sorted that and she now sounds sweet as ever - topped of with a new oil filter and the old girl just seems so much better no more smoke and no over heating issuse - next up is the water pump and belts doing a 120k service and sorting a new rad and oil cooler then i hope i can start modding the engine. Oh and my hands are well and truley done in but its worth it.
