thing is mark im really new to jap cars and engines etc im used to big old yankos so im not even sure tbh but it seems the whole thing was very badly maintained i think the water pumps gone it overheats so not sure if the headcasket is gone the fuel pump is make a crazy arse noise the viscous fan i knackered i think the rad is full of crap its been say for 5 years before i got her so i sure all the sensors are corroded it will prob need all new pipework just seems like alot of money to put in and its done 115k miles so seems alot of money to put in when i could prob get a newer engine i mean i dont mind the hard work just dont wanna throw good money after bad you know

im lucky that the bosy work is perfect not a dent or scratch on it just the paint thats messed up and it seems rust free underneath none at all - anyways im gonna bring her to the santa pod show and maybe you can all take a look at her and give me some better advice

dam auto correct makes me mad lol

Bare in mind an engine swap ain't and easy or cheap job unless you know what your doing, even then it's a similar aged item!

Apart from a possible headgasket nothing you've listed is hard or really time consuming to do, nor expensive.

1st thing is remove carefully every harness connector you can find and clean both ends.

2nd your fans, even i was confused by your previous posts on these, so you have 2 fans, 1 is electric sub fan behind bumper you should ever know this is on when overheating, aircon on or a water temp sensor fault, if it's on now when engine runs, you got a problem. 2nd fan is viscous (large white blades) and that is on the engine itself and runs all the time, only noise you should here is like wind blowing or if a lose belt, then some squeeling. In some rare cases the clutch unit on it goes, easy to replace and cheap second hand.

3rd, Flush the rad, easy to do and top up carefully, run engine to temp if your gauge is not accurate like many arn't, plumb in an aftermarket gauge ( even tempory) your looking for between 78-83degrees ideally. A feesh load of oil and filter.

If still worried ask a local garage to check for headgasket failure, not expensive. If it is, then consider another TT engine from manual or auto, no biggie which.

ty guys i was just really asking opinions im gonna do a full service well as much as i can do on her this week and see how it stands then

I think you would be well worth sending it upto to zedworld and getting them o cast an eye over it and assess what you've got and what sort of condition its in. The zed engine isn't that complex once you start getting used to what's where. The trouble is dirty connections and miles of shitty old rubber hose and cable that has got very hot in that compact engine bay and fractures cracks etc causing all manner of problems, this in turn leaves you open to mechanical problems. If well looked after the vg block is good for 300k+ miles, abuse sees them die prematurely. If its not running right it will run like dog poo and last bout as long as a mars bar on a tropical beach. If you've got the cash, a full engine rebuild and new loom will transform the car, that said a comprehensive freshen up and service will get it running so much better. Fortunately your in the right place and its worth asking if some of the local guys round you are willing/able to cast an eye over it for you, im sure if you supply the tea they will turn up and plague all over it leaving it in a far better position than now and youll meet some decent chaps.

meant hoover bags

its the cable that plugs into you zed so that the ECU programs on a laptop can read whats going on inside. Checks for fault codes and that things like the idle are set right.

If Rolandas doesn't have one I don't mind sending mine over so it can be plugged in and the readout can be posted up here so you know what is set right.

I do have one but don`t know if it does work :) Should the red light on the cable be on when connected to computer ?

TBH I can't remember not used mine for a few months. Try it out on yours if it doesn't work I'll pop mine in the post, Just use it and send it back.

Ok so update i cleaned the engine bay now it looks decent and thought id have a look at this over heat issuse since the sun was out - so disconnected the pipes and run a hose and some nice clean water through her the crap that come out was horid like brown much and some black sludge and even some leaves belive it or not. Buttoned her back up and filled the rad back up and ran her for about 45 mins and wow the temo gauge went to the middle after about 10 mins and just stayed there no movement at all even when i reved it for abit. The thing is when i checked the rad before clenaing there was no water at all in the system and i think the pref owner was running it with no water hence the overheating im hoping thats solved it as theres no water leak and the temo stays nice and firm in the middle. Also took the rear spoiler off as that was rotten and found 2 little rust spots i know have to fix. One thing that is worrying me is when shes idle she sits nice but when i rev her up abit white smoke comes from the exhaust and quite alot of it there no blue in it and it goes when i let her idle not sure what that could be

tbh if its been sat that long the exhaust is going to be saturated, probably rusted aswel with water in the rusted pitted metal, I wil take a good hard drive to blow all that crap out.
