Feel for yer mate, got a guy local to me serious about a decent Zed, hardest part is cost of flying over, pre book a car on the return ferry just in case, then travel to the car and if no good, postpone ferry booking and buy last minute plane ticket home, serious waste of money and time.

Here, autotrader or piston heads there just ain't as many as there used to be, between those 3 areas think i counted about 25 odd actual Zeds, yikes!

I flew over to England to buy the red swb I have now. I rang him several times and asked for extra pics before flying over with a one way ticket. The zed was as described so bought it and drove it to the ferry (slight detour to zedworld for a one piece prop) the rest is history as they say.

If you are going to travel far to see a car then get as much info as you can plus pics of the areas he has not put up and tell him of the expense you are going to just to see it so you want an honest report and you wont go far wrong.

Good luck on the next one mate.

I had the same prob, asked him loads of questions, which lets say he was very economical about the truth !

So after 3 1/2 hr drive I turned away and drove back, then 4 days later drove 30 mins past where the wreck was to Baz's and bought his !! Lol

Once traveled a touch over 200 miles to collect a car from a dealer we had left a deposit on over the phone, so trade plates at the ready off to the bank to pull the cash out and set off, drove through some of the worst rain I can remember to be told when we got there some one had just bought it... what the!! transpires the salesmen were not talking to each other and both had sales on the same car...was not happy at all cheeky sods then tried to sell me an alternative.......deposit returned and that was me away, fuming all of the way home...

traveled 677miles to go get my first ever 300zx including a ferry trip to the isle of Uist in the outer Hebrides, blew the engine on the way home. lol

I did 1000 miles to collect the shell for my slicktop project. Took 30 hours there and back.

Madness !

For my first Z I scheduled a trip to see 6 different Z's from different sellers all on the same day. Was a nightmare getting sorted. I purchased the 5th one, the rest were junk.

Yup - I remember that Gary....

...And I did a similar thing with my blue ZX!! I remembered PhilP's for sale post from a year earlier - so when he put the car up for sale again some time later, and this time I was in the market to replace my red one, I remembered his old ad!! Phil answered all my questions accurately and provided tons of photos to prepare me for what I could expect - so I took the 200 mile or so train journey to Phil's full of confidence. And I was not disappointed - we went for a nice long test drive, I examined the car etc and Phil could not have been more helpful at every stage.

So one bank transfer later - followed a long (and wet) drive back down South - I now have a very tidy late UK spec 300zx that I am more than happy with; and Phil was a pleasure to deal with!!

Good luck with your search Ken; I hope you find a good one as there are still some out there!

That must have been about 50,000hours ago now?

I guess I have to face facts and admit that mine is for sale ..... What should I be asking ?

Current problem is that it is SORN'd and no MOT. When last driven it had a misfire which I believe is a faulty coilpack, I have a spare.

Andy, with sorn and no mot you'll practically be giving it away. If you ask me, get the old girl road legal first and fix that misfire so you can get the best price for it.

Yeah, I know. Trouble is I don't really want to sell it ...

Bring it round here, I'll help you not sell it by not selling both of ours.

If you had the spare garage space I'd be round there like a shot !
