Has anybody adjusted the drivers side window unit inwards? Very slight leak between the door window and targa seal (New seal) looks like the window unit wants tilting in a bit but i dont know how to do it. Anyone help?

i did try once but the motor really slowed down and i thought it was going to pop the glass so turned back.

try the easy fix first . mine wasnt sealing as well as it should so i tapped the door catch in a mil or 2 . the screws are bloody tight , i had to give mine a knock with an impact wrench to free the screws . the door sounds a lot better now when closing , no rattling window and the seal between glass and rubber is much better .

You will probably find, that there is a plastic clip, part of the the mechanism (holds the glass to the runner), and it is broke, very common. There are threads about it, cheap fix but very fiddly (apparently). Does you window rattle if driving with it half down, and when you shut the door with the window down?

Yeah mine does this, and it does leak a little, only a drip mind but it can be quite regular. the other side is starting too.

it'll be that clip, both of mine need doing too. Sounds like it's made from bean cans if you shut the door with the window down.

agreed the clips do wear but so does the door catch . i stripped out the door card and all the gubbings in the door to change mine only to find the clips all intact and in good condition . what a PITA only to have to put it all back and still not fixed . i only decided to move the door catch on mine as the door was sticking out a couple of mm when shut and hey presto no more rattling . like most things , one problem leads to another . the easy test is when your door is shut if you press around the handle and the door moves in a little then the catch needs adjusting . if its solid then its the clip . mine used to rattle like mad when you shut the door . it now shuts with a nice solid clunk evan if the window is down.

always try the easy things first .

Wise words there Andyzx.

I too was unsure as to exactly what the cause of may noisy door was. so as the door card was off at the time, I decided to pack the glass out with a bit of sponge with the window down and shut the door. Sounded really nice. It looks like Nissan fitted some sort of soft pad to the frame so as to help dampen the effect of the glass coming into contact, I guess over 21 years of use it must have disintegrated.

So when you say tapped the door catch, do you mean as move the ring on the door frame a couple of mm into the car, and then drill new holes and then tap them?

loosen the three screws , move the catch in and tighten . you dont need to drill new holes . if you just slacken them slightly then tap the catch with the rubber end of your hammer

The adjusting screws and their locknuts are located on the bottom of the two window guides at the front and rear of the window.

You can see them when you remove the door card. Screwing them in or out alters the angle of the guides thus altering the glass. Turn them and you will see the top of the window glass move in or out depending which way you turn them.

Simples!!

 i thought i must be wrong, it sounded a bit drastic.

No its not rattling, its just a very small drip there is a small gap between the rubber and the door window, but i will check these clips to make sure thanks.
