Hi,

My name is Dan and I'm from Newcastle.

I don't own a zed yet, but I've admired them for a while! And being 21, when I've looked previously, they weren't cheap to insure. Neither was a Daewoo matiz, but anyway...

I'm hoping to buy one within the next year or so. (I've just got a mortgage and I have to convince the enemy that it is a practical decision).

Basically, I'm starting to do my research now & i thought the forum would be a good place to start.

So if anyone has any useful links and stuff which outline what the problems/issues are when looking to purchase them, maintain them, live with them etc. I'd much appreciate it. Basically anything which can help me firstly learn about these beautiful cars, but also package a case together to her!

Luckily, (i know they're juicy!)MPG is not an issue ha ha, but I'm quite conscious of the cost of servicing and maintaining etc as i wouldn't want to take it to any old garage...

So any and all help is appreciated!

Thank you :smartass:

Hi mate, this forum is really good but unfortunately good garages up here are thin on the ground. Zedworld and Noz are miles away, I used Evotune Durham and he was quite good but isn't really a Nissan man. I've thought about revolution near the metro but they do scoobys really. I was warned off falcon engineering.

Zeds are a right laugh but have a lot of problems, admiral gave me a good price for insurance.

Welcome, biggest piece of advice is buy the best one you can afford, im sure youve seen cheap £1000 examples, these ines arnt.usually the bargins they look, and can quickly eat there own value in parts alone. Buying one thats been well looked after with a strong history and recent servicing is going to be miles chraper in the long run. There arnt many places able to work on the z32 eithout making an expensive hash.of it. Zedworld and powerzed are about the only ones worth thier salt, and the only ones you will findrecommended on here. Fortunatly if you get a good one, dont mess with it too much and look after ityou will have a great car. Get researching, oh and welcome.

Yeah, i've read a lot about zedworld, but Birmingham there & back is about £150 petrol + hotel haha!

I'd still do it though!

Hi mate, cheers!

Yeah i've seen a fair few "sheds" on auction sites & such for around £1500.

There's a fantastic one (in my opinion anyway) for around £6600, which would be my preferred purchase if i was to buy one now.

I think i'd keep away from low history like. I'm just concerned about high mileage models, i prefer lower miles, but i suppose if they're looked after well they should be alright

Haha good luck with that !! A 2+2 version could be considered practical in comparison to a 2+0.

There does seem to be a strong contingent in the North East and am sure they will no doubt help you out if you're serious about joining our Z family.

And yes spend as much as you're allowed :whistling:.

Welcome along :cool3:.

Welcome to the forum Dan.

were a growing contingent in the North East.. If we can be any help just drop us a message..

Im sure if you wanted somebody to look at a car with you there will be plenty offers of help...

Welcome... Good luck finding a Z and be careful, a massive price tag doesn't nessasarily mean its a good one.

Check my one for sale and if you're dissappointed when you get here ill pay for your return fare :-)

Sounds like a good deal there

Good to see another local coming on to the site :)

Welcome to the club fella. If your wanting to come and have a look round a couple you should try and make it to a meet at some point.

Oh and Tom, there's also the GTR Shop in wingate. The guy there use to actually sell the zed in the dealership. I went to see him once but seemed expensive and I thought it would be better off staying with the people I knew who'd do a good job

Browsing about, I guess these are the basic fundamentals of buying one?

yes mate...Always a good idea to try buy from this site off a member then 9 times out of 10 you can trawl back through the cars recent history via old posts and see what work has been done to the car.

Dan if you're still coming to the zed meet on the 16th Ill pick you up if you like. My zed is in bishop the meet is almost certainly Gona be south and I'm coming from Alnwick so ill pick you up on the way past. I need to be back up north on the night so it's not out of my way to run you back either.
