Hi guys misses picked up my plenum today, had it powder coated candy blue.

She just sent me some pics on my phone, and I am not impressed..

Told her to take it straight back, and call me when she gets there so I can spk to them on the phone,

Guy says its the casting marks on the plenum, I no nothing about powder coat and said I aint having it cause to me that aint casting marks there is either water or something got on it, looks like blisters.

If it was casting whole plenum would look like it..

He said pick it up tomorrow and he will do it again.

So whos right me or him incase its the same tomorrow, I have some answers ready lol.

Some pics of the crap..

Doesnt look like cast marks to me. Surely they do some sort of prep before powder coating, de grease etc, they would have noticed some lumps before they started and either informed you or fixed it.

Cheers guys,

Thats what he said if I wanted a show finish he would have done a light polish before to make it smooth,

I said why would I have gone for the most expensive candy finish he did if I didn't want it to look good.

He sand blasted before powder coat, I know the plenum is not perfectly smooth but that looks crap.

It almost looks like its just been painted and the paint has pickled...?

Hope you get it sorted cos you could've got a better finish with a brush and some hammerite looking at that

I forgot to check them disc mate, if u wanna pop round one sunday u can have them its up to u.

Yep was expecting a really nice plenum and it looks shite lol. Not having much luck with painting and powder coat.

He's sandblasting with second hand sand, not fresh. This leaves tiny particles of metal in the sand and if you dont clean down proper afterwards the metal stays on the product and when the powder is sprayed it covers them. Then when they go in the oven they over heat and pop because they are so small which creates little exploded bubble marks in the finish.

Cheers for all the replies, atleast I can go there with answers if its shite tomorrow.

Terry...please make sure once you are happy with it to thoroughly wash the inside of the plenum out as they do get oily and blast media from the sand blasting with stick to it............ NOT GOOD for your motor to breathe that shit.

Will be making sure its going on a new rebuilt forged lump,

He did say he was using stuff to cover faces and block holes but looking at his powder coat im really :scared:

Thanks for the heads up..

Your problems are yet to come Terry...looks like he has not put bolts in the threaded holes, chasing cured powder coating with a tap is a nightmare as its harder than cast alloy. And make sure he has cleaned it out goodo of all the grit too as it looks like he does,nt give a f&ck:sad:

Cheers z nut, its a nightmare, I started a job in London and having to send the misses but may leave late tomorrow and have a look.

I offered to put bolts in the holes and he said he masks them but on closer look of the pics seems he aint bothered.

Nice colour choice though Terry, is it expensive to get this done?
