Well, at least thats what id call them

The bushes in the rear hubs that the HICAS steering rack connects to have perished and split, and im trying to find either an OE or after market replacement, but im struggling to find them on the usual parts websites.

They look like the usual track rod end rubber boots, but jimmer has told me there are infact bushes (assuming that theyre built into the hub that the rod ends feed a shaft through, rather than a boot that attached to the rod end itself)

I would post a pic to show what im on about, but the cars with Jimmer...

Does any one understand what im whittering on about, if so, can you provide me a link of where i can buy replacements

Cheers

Nick

I will do, but i need to know what the part is called first, otherwise im on a hiding to nothing

I think its the bush for the rear outer tie rods, looking on Z1, they list the rod end (which looks right) but it doesnt have the bush attached..... so going what i think i remember jimmer saying, the bush is part of the hub and not the arm

Ring any bells for anyone?

I assume your mean the little rubber covers have gone not the actual bush which is an interference fit into the hub? unfortunately if so the rubber is not available seperate, maybe you could get something close but a case of looking with next to no reference, changing the whole bush just for the rubber covers is expensive, anyway instock of you decide to go that way.

Its deffo the bush Jeff, there is lateral movement in the wheel which is coming from this ball joint (not the inner one), it just the first thing I noticed when looking at it was the cover for the bush was split

How long has Batman been working on Zeds

black gloves are or winners :) those ball joints are about £80 bucks each for genuine ones, pretty sure theres a chap on the bay that does repros but I dunno what the qualities like. or you could fully delete it with the driftworks kit for £200

It's been a few years since I bought a pair for my old red ZX, but I seem to remember they were something like £54 from MJP..... Although Nissan have hiked up spare parts prices in recent years so you could be right now mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'll be getting OE replacements, not a chance of deleting the HICAS. For one I've got the later fully electronic SUPER HICAS system, and secondly I've always liked the feel of HICAS, it suits my driving style.

I can't believe nobody has made and sold a kit to replace the orginal eye let end with a bush type spade type connector same as aftermarket toe and tracksion rods .Then you could just put a pair of polly bushes in hubs job done .I know drift works use a simular system but its £200 .I might look into making these unless someone else fancies it I'm sure its possible .

Cheers Stu,

Both sides have gone, which is a bit of a bugger.

How did you find the quality of the part. I was looking at those and contemplating... Half the price of OE, possibly half the quality.... but if OE have lasted 18 years, im sure these would last 9

There is this http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=6996&Car_Type=300&UID=2012121316055166.249.73.5

but to me looks like its possibly designed to work with a lockout kit rather than with the HICAS (those outer links dont look like they could be attached the the HICAS rack)

That link above is what i was talking about having made .

will czp ship to uk was thinking about ordering a kit and reproducing them the bushes are not a problem i can get them here its end rod fitments .
